Well I took my car in a second time for the 3rd gear notchiness and they still can't duplicate the problem.

So I'm just assuming at this point that they're waiting for 3rd gear to go completely out on me so they can blame it on driver abuse.

Take in a 3rd time and they will have it noted in the books, and then you can say see i went here 3 times and you guys didnt fix it or match it and look now its completely bad.

I took mine in a while ago and they said they couldnt duplicate the problem and that the service manager wasnt in, so the next time I went up I took them my TSB paper that I printed off here and they were like o0o we've never heard of this before, we'll fix this right away.

What a bunch of DBags

I just got an 07 si 2 weeks ago and this problem happened once I got home. I started reading about it here and found out its common and now I have an appointment next Monday for service. They didn't seem to willing to help me though. My luck its not going to happen for them even though it grinds 3rd on a daily basis. I guess if they cant reproduce I will just keep rescheduling until they find a problem, or go to another dealer. I'm to the point where I just skip 3rd because I flinch every time it doesn't feel just right.

Hey guys, My girls car, 07 4dr SI with 40k has the 3rd gear popout issue, We mentioned it to the dealer at 20k and said will see how it goes..

It became alot worse and was popping out when trying to go to third, on a average trip of 15 miles it would do this 6-10 times..

I drop the car off and let the service manager know whats up, he says the tech's will look at it.

5 hours later, 2 techs, and a service manager all said they could not duplicate it and to come get the car. They were closed at this time so I got the keys from the cashiers office.

Next day I call them, tell them my problem again and the service manager said they were trying to duplicate a grind..I said it can be notchy but Iam talking about when going to third it pops out, doesn't go into 3rd at all..and I mentioned the TSB

He tried saying it was fine untill I said we have purchased 13 new hondas from you,all manuals, Accords, Si's, s2000 etc and we know how to drive a stick and there is a problem that needs to be fixed.

He said bring it in and will have a rental ready so we dropped it off again, rental wasn't ready on time but oh well, we atleast got a rental

1 hour later the Serv MNGR calls back and said it did it to him 6 times on a 10 mile loop and they ordered the parts and should have it done by the next day and he will have a master tech do the repairs.

Picked the car up, no charge and all seems well so far.

ONE QUESTION, Should they have done a alighnment?
I would assume so but who knows..

Thanks, and Goodluck to others that are having this issue

Well good news for me I took my car in for the first check on my 3rd gear issue and the second tech that drove it found the problem and its getting fixed. They have to order the parts and it will be fixed in a few days.

Well I got my car back and it shifts great. 3 days so far and not a single 3rd gear grind. Also it seems smoother shifting into every other gear. Might be in my head but I don't care I am a happy customer.

Hey guys it seems as though some of you are waiting until the problem is happening constantly, mine does it but not all the time so there could be a chance that when I do take the car in for service and they do go to test drive it to find the problem, it doesnt happen. So what I want to know is....is there a certain amount of miles that they are only covering this up to??

as mentioned previously, if the parts are in stock, some highly-skilled techs are able to execute this from start to finish in half a day. that was the case with mine; the technician, Harold at Rossi Honda in Vineland, NJ, has been working on Hondas for almost 30 years.

but, on average, expect it to take two days.
