Theres one about 50 yards from my work. All you need is ID. Yea, don't fire it off in your back yard.

so just bring the gun in a case? do they look at it? i was reading on another site about hand guns and the one i got seems kinda not good to bring to ca. i brought it from another state and it has a 16 round clip. is that ok? should i register the gun to my name?

The gun you have is illegal. I believe the max amout of rounds you can have in a clip here in cali is 9. Somebody correct me if im wrong.

At most private ranges here you need an ID, but at the public ones Unmaned ones you don't. Hell, I used to have a pistol range in my backyard. LOL!

California i believe only allows a 10 round clip and it has to be in a locked box. I've also heard that the ammo can't not be stored in the same container but i'm not sure on that one.

If you can't hit your target in 10 rounds, you don't need a handgun... you need a prayer.

Then you are in LA doing something you shouldn't be doing.

EDIT: In which case, you still need a prayer.

As a firm advocate of gun safety a few things set off my alarm in this thread.

If you live out in the boonies and there's plenty of room and you're 200% sure there is nobody else around and in a roped off area od some type it isn;t a huge deal to discharge a fire arm.

Not a gun range I would go too, Id should be checked along with your HSC, and your firearms it's for everyones safety.

I personally do not want to be in any room, or near any person that is not responsible enough with their firearm to have proper id, proper papers etc. Nor do i want to shoot at a gun range that's too lazy to check

The Max capacity allowed in CA is 10 rds, unless it is pre ban equipment and you can prove without doubt you were legally allowed to own it before hand.

Rule of thumb with guns: use common sense, if you don;t have any don;t own a fire arm.

too many idiots own them already.

Too the OP you should not have much trouble registering the firearm in CA with the proper magazines, if you have questions do not ask the internets call the CA DOJ

Ekasey is right,

I didn't fully explain everything. Yes its max 10 you can have in a clip/magazine.

You do need a case or some type of bag to carry your weapon.

there was a guy with a 16 clip there and he had it before the ban so it legit.

EDIT:

Direction to where i went: catch the 210 north exit osborne and go north, make a left on osborne (it splits) follow the canyon and then you'll see a sign where it says los angeles shooting range. google it.

Were you an Idaho resident when you bought it? If not, you're in possession of an illegally purchased firearm. That's bad.
