i recently went to a friends house car running good. all of a sudden i try to go home and my car wont start. the engine cranks but it just wont turn on. the battery is good. i can hear the fuel when i click my key. i changed the distributor and the spark plug. and checked all my fuse. I am out of ideas someone help me out please!!!!!!!!!

check your starter and main relay. and would car fire up if you jump start it?

i dont think its the starter because it cranks..and i dont know if this is true but i heard when i click the key and hear the gas noise..then that means the main relay is good? no the car will not fire up when i jump start it..

you need 3 things to start: spark, fuel, combustion. did you check to see if you're getitng spark? is timing right? when you changed your wires out, did you put em back in the right firing order?(1-3-4-2....bottom left to clockwise) i had a starting problem last month when my coil went out and i put them in the wrong order

yea i did check to see if i was getting spark.i stuck a bolt in the spark plug and grounded it on my engine. and it sparked. i tested all 4 wires..i just changed the spark plugs also. and as of the timing i did not check that. would timing just be off for no reason? and yes i did put my wires in the right firing order. 1342. and as for the fuel. when i click my key and hear the pump. that means theres fuel pumping in correct? im out of ideas this crap is stressing me out. help!!!!!!!!!

timing is a factor. do you know if your t-belt is still good? other things that i'd check for is the boots on the plug wires are good too and no cracks along the boots because the spark could leak out and bounce to the valve cover not reaching the plugs. and see if you're actually getting fuel to the engine. have one person crank it at the same time having the other person cracking open the fuel line at the end of the fuel rail. if it spirts out then you know thats good. if that's not it you could also try checking out your map sensor to see if it's getting .5v because it won't run without it working. there's also compression checking the cylinders. oh, and seeing if your injectors are working properly. that's about all i can think of for now....

thanks man im gong to try to the timing and fuel part. as for the map sensor yea i tried to put another map sensor from another car but thats not the problem..and how do i check if the injectors are working properly? thanks man u been a big help

did you replace the distributor or just the cap?

i replace the whole distributor...i bought a whole new one.

ok, you have spark, to know quickly if you have fuel, crack a line and see if pressure leaks out,or test the fuel pressure, reguardless of "hearing: the pump, the reason why i say this is the next step, while a buddy cranks it, use a screwdriver as a stethoscope to your ear on the injector body, and listen for the click, click of it opening. if you dont know what to listen for, try it on your moms running car. if you gots a click, and pressure, the relay, and crank and cam sensors are ok. if this checksout, look to see if air is physically making it into the engine.

tried da fuel man..and it shoots out..so thats not the problem. im out of ideas..car's getting spark distributor is new. spark plug is new. checked all the fuse. fuel pump is working. main relay is good. cleaned out the throttle wit carborator cleaner..timing belt still good. i have the right firing order 1342. im clueless lost and confused..my engine is bone stock...
