i know you cant, your the one who just said before that if you get the machine set up right your welds will turn out fine. thats not the case at all. thank you for just proving MY point. trust me i have worked in a metal fab shop for the past 6 years. some of the guys i work with and i will mess with eachother while we are in the middle of welding all the time.... we always walk up behind eachother while that person is welding and mess with their wire speed and crank the heat up or down during their weld and we have to continue the weld we cant stop in the middle of it... so do u see my point... "setting up the machine right" has nothing to do with a quality weld.... even if your dials are all messed up it is possible to still lay down a quality weld, if you yourself are a quality welder, you just have to know what your doing. im sorry but people like you who thinks welding is so easy really bother me... it takes much more than "5 minutes" to be a quality welder.


is there any other REAL welders reading this right now that can help me out with this dude???

you're changing your argument all over the place.

i just did this last night,

was teaching someone how to stick weld, 6010 1/8".

i set the machine up. laid down a ew passes, came out fine. threw the scrap away.

got a fresh piece, ew box of rods. handed it over telling them the genral whip technique, and how to start an arc.


they had travel speed, and arc length off. another pass just cut into the plate.

i set the machine up, perfectly. and welds werent coming out great.

perfect example.

OK I've been MIG welding for about 6 months now, so I'm no pro by any means. I'm certainly not saying welding is easy either. It's not. but I can't even imagine welding something like that. The first bead I ever ran in my life didn't look like that. I mean anyone with about half an IQ can look at that and say "I've never seen any weld on anything anywhere that looks like this. Maybe I should try again." I don't even know HOW I could make a weld look like that. I am absolutely dumbfounded by this.

The part I don't understand there is why he didn't just go for a log manifold. Logs aren't the greatest, but they are totally adequate into the 400 HP area and are at least as easy to build as that awful thing.

Oh, and 1/8" plate FTW on the turbine flange. That'll seal.

But seriously, I've seen worse factory turbo manifold hack jobs. A buddy of mine made this, and to make things worse the T25 he used didn't have the proper sized fittings, but used JB Weld to make it seal (?).
