What day is everybody wanting to get there. Last year a lot of the guys out west passed through the midwest area on saturday. Last years drive was tireing and i plan on being at the track by either saturday night or sunday morning/miday. Just depends if I want to get a hotel on the road or just book another night at the track.

Getting to the track, getting to the hotel, unloading, and going through tech is just exhausting after finishing a 14 hour drive straight.

Last year's plan worked for me. Leave home Sat morning and drive until we see mountains, then wake up Sun and get to the track in the afternoon.

I'd be in to split a room 4 ways if anyone is up for it, I'll even sleep on the floor, all I really need is a dry place, pillow, and a nice shower in the morning

If we did this it would be $75 a person split 4 ways (3 nights sunday, monday, tuesday)

There will probably be 2 MW caravans like last year. You'll probably be going a different route than I am, the KS,MO,NE,IA guys are going down thru TN, I don't think that would make any sense for you, Koala Yummies/Mugen Mike and others are coming from the Chicago area so that would make more sense for you

But I'm still down for sharing a room

Last year I took I65 to louisville then I64, we met up with some peeps there in lexington. Then made another stop in west virginia were we met up with the North midwest people. Im not sure of the route they took but I'd imagine they took I90 to I77. I would go this way but its tottally the wrong direction for me to go.

I was thinking about about leaving on sat and driving till about 4 hours from VIR. and then get to VIR in the mid day.

That's what I was thinking since your in Indy, that's probably the best route/where you'd meet others

<--------U.S. map and area code guru because I have to look at it all day at work

Thats good, that means we'll be seeing you sometime around 10pm? NE= slowest caravan.

I am game for the same route, and the Texans can meet up with us in Nashville or Knoxville.

If you roll with us you'll only need a room at the track for Sun and Mon. We roll out Tues after the event.

That might make sense, since some folks will be coming from I-80 or points north, while others might be coming across on I-70.

Why would people from those states go through TN? Isn't that way out of the way? If I were coming from KS or MO, isn't the shortest route through STL and across on I-64 to Charleston WV?

Quote:

Having done the trip several times from Chicago, I'm pretty sure that the shortest, quickest route is via I-65 to Indy, I-74 to Cinci, AA (KY 9) to I-64 near Huntington, I-64 to Charleston, I-77 to Princeton WV, US-460 east to I-81 north to Roanoke, US-220 south to Martinsville, and US-58 east to Danville. (The US-460 stretch is a bit winding but there aren't many lights and it's shorter than staying on I-77 all the way south to I-81 north.)

Note that this would converge around Huntington with the I-64 route for the MO and KS folks. Alternatively, the MO/KS folks could drive just a few miles out of their way to meet up sooner, by taking I-70 east to Indy and meet up there.

Look at a map and you'll see what I'm talking about...
