It could add up considering many PC's nowadays have 400W+ power supply sometimes double or more with gaming computers. I doubt having a LCD monitor helps all that much either with that much of power consumption. I don't remember what my last bill was. Maybe I need to pay? Click the image to open in full size.

What was the bill before you had your PC on all the time?

Ever use the power management options? I leave mine on all the time and I never saw a noticable increase.

I never noticed a difference in my bill. I have 2 computers I leave on 24x7.
Just make sure the monitor turns off after a while and the hard drives spin down after a few hours.

I havent noticed a significant difference but I do not have a power hungry desktop nor laptop. actually, the difference is less than I would have assumed.

Having 3 computers is quite expensive.

Even if you have a 500w power supply, it is rarely running at full load. So, a 500w PSU does not mean you are constantly using 500 watts.

lesse here...I have 1 pc, 1 laptop. My roommate...the same....other roommate....the same. We each have flat panel TVs that are used every chance we get Click the image to open in full size.. I have a 52 rear projection hdtv ( that is used semi frequently ), and a buncha other electronics I'd rather not say....my last month's bill was $189. This month it was $224 ( but only because gas usage went up....seriously...f*ck winter ). Oddly enough with all this crap we have, when looking at the break down of our bills, the electrical usage went down from the last month's bill. That's with 2 PCs constantly on and 1 getting turned off when not in use Click the image to open in full size. So...it depends. I would suggest starting conserving energy and turn off any appliances, room lights, etc etc that are not in use. It may not amount to much, but every little it helps.

Ive been told that it takes less energy to leave it on, than to turn it on/off like 3 times a day. I just unplug my monitor.

10 seconds on google: http://michaelbluejay.com/elec....html

If you want to know how much energy your particular computer is using, buy one of those Kill A Watt things.

$160 sounds absolutely absurd. The most I've ever paid was a little over $70. Is everything electric, or do you have a gas bill also?

God damn man! I have three PCs and two koi pond heaters that never turn off, and in the summer time, I have eight waterpumps added in that never shut off and the highest bill I've had last year was $60.00.

Buy those energy saving lightbulbs that are supposed to last 7 years (but really last 1-3), then make your home energystar compliant.
