Nice job - the color is pretty nice too. Just as a mention - for the guys living in places that have corrosion problems or anyone just wanting to keep the fresh 'cut' letter look on thier covers - make sure you shave the letters BEFORE you spray the clear - Keeps oil, water from making the paint blister from corrosion down the sides of the letters and it keeps the shiny in the aluminum by sealing it out from the elements. Good write up though.

out of all the covers i've done i have never had a problem with rust. i don't know if it's galvenized or whatnot but no problems and where i live has four seasons. as far as sanding before clear, that would make the clear have a "shrinking" effect in the sandscratches and i want a some what oem apearence. honda didn't clear over the letters and it held up fine before i stripped it.

thanks though

it's aluminum so it won't rust, but it can still oxidize and blister, especially if water vapor manages to gety under the paint and expand from the engine bay temps

looks good, nice write up. I don't think heat is too much of an issue for valve covers, they don't get very hot, at least not any hotter than a black car would get sitting out in the hot sun all day.
