Default T1 G Force Shifter kit

Hey guys, finally got all my pieces in for the G Force shifter kits. For those that don't know, what this shifter does is help prevent missed shifts. It has a spring inside that pushes the shift lever towards the 5/R gate. In order to get into the 5/R gate, you have to push down and over on the shifter. This helps prevent shifting from 2nd to 5th, but allows you to push all the way to the right on the 2/3 shift to minimize the chance of shifting back into 1st from 2nd. The 1-2-1 shift generally does a lot of damage!

The kits we've put together allow as bolt in of an installation as possible. The kits use high quality universal joints as well, not the cheap ones G Force sends with the shifters.

The installation involves removing the old shifter and linkage assembly completely. The hole in the chassis will need to be opened up slightly for the G Force shifter to fit through. The assembly slides up from the bottom of the car and you use the 2 factory 8mm bolt holes in the chassis that the OEM shift linkage bolted to. Then you will mark the 4 holes on the front side of the bracket and drill the chassis. You will then install the 4 8mm bolts from inside the car, they will thread directly into the bracket.

This setup requires 100% solid motor mounts for it to work right. Since there is no longer a stabilizer bar on the shift linkage, the engine can not move or it will try to pull the shifter out of gear. Avid and Hasport both offer solid mounts for most engine configurations. The fact that everything has to be 100% on the length of the shift linkage, since there's no stabilizer bar, means that we can not complete the linkage 100% before shipping. The linkage will be sent with everything complete except the last U joint at the trans. The tube going into the U joint will be left long and the installer will have to trim to length and either weld or bolt the joint/tube together while it's on the car. I will be putting together a PDF file with all the installation notes and instructions with pics shortly. The install is very straight forward and anyone with some basic tools can do the job.

Anyways, here's some pics, the kit comes complete with the G Force shifter, shift lever, shift knob, mounting bracket, and shift linkage. All hardware is included and it also comes with a new roll pin for the trans as well as the clip that goes over it.

Those of you who already have kits on order, they will ship next Wed. My supplier sent me the wrong size tubing for the linkages and it should arrive next Tues.

Thanks

Also, some people have asked, this can be used on a stock trans or an aftermarket gear set, you do not have to have a dog engagement gear set for this to work.

Here's another shot of the adjustment point on the shift linkage. There is a male/female socket between the two to locate them, the bolts are just to lock down the adjustment.

No, plate mounts under the car. The two 8mm holes in the rear bolt up to the oem shifter mounting holes.

There are different length shift levers available from G Force. I supply the kits with thier longer lever, which puts the shift knob higher than the stock configuration. If you want it shorter, it can be cut and redrilled, it's just 2 bolts. I figure you can always make it shorter, but you can't easily make it longer, that's why i supply the long ones. Personally, i like the longer lever, gives you more leverage and puts the shift knob closer to the steering wheel.
