The dealership does, go there, show proof of ownership over the radio, and give the serial

I'm really trying to avoid pulling out the radio in my brother's accord. Could I give them the stealership his VIN? This would be the same stealership where my mother bought the car.

I don't believe it's tied to the VIN

If it's a CD chassis it's not more than 5 mins of work with a phillips screw driver

They usually have a sticker on the driver side of the glove compartment when it's open. Sometimes this sticker will have the actual code or the radio serial number. If it's 5 digits, it's the code. If it's 8 to 10 alpha numeric digits, it's the serial number. Take this number to the dealer and they will give you the code. No need to pull the radio

I have never seen this in any accord I've ever been with. (easily 20+)

So it's *some* accords have the sticker, majority of them would require pulling the radio out.

this is the one thing I hate about this site.....

some jackass shows up with a serial # and asks for a radio code.....and some dumbass on the forum gives it to them and didn't even bother to verify ownership......

want the RADIO CODE GO TO THE expletiveING DEALER WITH PROOF OF OWNERSHIP AND GET IT FROM THEM.

On newer honda's and acura's (except navagation, it is a different procedure) you can turn the key on and hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons down and 1 set of numbers will pop up, let off and another set will pop up. Write em down and call the dealer.

It's free, they are charging you for the removal of the radio.

If you have the serial it's free.

Dude, I think you should go to the dealer and give it a try. The reason they have this thing for the unit is to prevent theft of audio units. I may know the code but im not going to tell you because its just wrong. When this anti-theft code was first implemented the stickers were all applied on a card which came with the packets of document at the time the dealer may not it in their database but honda does have it on their site, available to the service department: service advisor, cashier, technician, managers. during the late 90s the technician may put the extra sticker of the serial and only the serial on the side or inside of the glove box. today, it is a mandatory procedure that during the PDI process a technician is to put the serial sticker (not the code sticker) in or on the side of the glove box. regardless, you still should go to the dealer. You may be the lucky few, they might even do it for you right at the service drive free of charge if they think you are wasting their time, hehe.

ok just to state the obvious....no one here will give you the codes for your radio do to lack of proof of ownership

i could easily just say i have a radio that needs the code and i lost the paper it was on my serial is M96G176390 i cant prove i own the unit and it could easily be stolen....go to the dealership and they will give it to you if you show proof of ownership...end of story

REALLY? I guess I would have to assume there's plenty of thieves out there looking for my stock radio that includes the AMAZING, highly desirable features such as: a cassette deck and a CD player. Obviously this high tech deck we find in these old accords (that have obnoxious tendency of going into error mode and coming without owners' manuals) deserves protection from our online peers in the form of withholding serial numbers. After pulling my radio and realizing its ******* thanksgiving with no dealerships open, discovering honda's database won't allow me access to their codes because I don't know the original owners' email address (WHY WOULDNT I? It's not like the car is 14 years old and clearly at that age there shouldn't be more than 1 or 2 owners), and then realizing these gems of radios can't receive codes from forum browsers who treat these POS like they are ******* gold... i've decided its ******* time to "downgrade" to an mp3/ipod ready deck that won't merit the respect and protection my headache of a radio has become.
