Since the links were messed up, i'm changing up the outline. I'll post links via post when new updates are ready
Oct 9th - New dyno with eCtune http://honda-tech.com/showpost.php?p...postcount=1359 DEC 6th - 1/4 mile results http://honda-tech.com/showpost.php?p...postcount=1434 __________________________________________________ ________ Ok before i get into this, i'm going to be adding tech to this thread as i go so be forewarned that you will likely need to read the whole thread in order to retain everything that is done. I purchased this setup with the machine work already done. I do not have a bore gauge to determine how well everything was done but after talking to a wiseco rep, the piston to wall and the ring gap are dead on for what i am trying to achieve. I'm assembling this motor in hopes that everything was done correctly prior to me buying it. Here is what the motor is going to consist of: ![]() ![]() f22 crank = 50mm mains ![]() BS kit plugs for the oil pump ![]() Pistons installed: ![]() ![]() sidenote......the autozone ring compressor sucks donkey balls!!! Block: h23 block with 89mm darton liners 89mm Wiseco pistons Crower h23 rods F22 crank (micropolished) -- crank, rods and pistons have been balanced ACL bearings -- align honed mains kaizenspeed balancer shaft delete h23 tensioner Head: stock unported, stock cams EuroR Intake manifold - prepared by Rosko s2000 throttle body RMF narrow misc: 12lbs fidanza flywheel Action 2ks clutch no ac, ps, cc, evap, egr New OEM oil pump New OEM water pump Converting to OBDI distributor Fueling: RDX 410cc injector setup prepared by Rosko P28 / Crome Pro Here is the output of the motor with all the same mods minus the block: ![]() I have since fixed my fueling issues which was in turn killing my power considering these cams did not make much more power in general with the tune i had on there. 188whp = stock cams and EuroR manifold 193whp = crower cams and EuroR ![]() The 176whp pass is what put me to 14.0 at 96.6 mph in the quarter mile. I have yet to track the car at its current power level, but its pretty safe to say that im well into the 13 sec barrier. This build is scheduled to be completed and tuned the week after i get out of school for christmas break. The day after completion, the car is going to the body shop to get its exterior makeover after being hit by a drunk driver... ![]() The car is getting repainted to a darker metallic red. Roof is getting painted a color to match CF and im hoping to have money left over to get a CF trunk. My goals for this setup is low 13's and eventually break into the 12's when i run a stock thickness headgasket to bump the compression to 13.2:1, running pump and methanol and throw a hefty cam to it. We'll see what happens Modified by 98vtec at 11:46 PM 6/10/2008 Modified by 98vtec at 1:26 AM 8/15/2008 Modified by 98vtec at 1:26 AM 8/15/2008 Modified by 98vtec at 1:33 PM 8/17/2008 Modified by 98vtec at 10:13 AM 10/13/2008 Last edited by 98vtec; 12-08-2008 at 06:45 AM. |

why ACL bearings? the vast majority of talk on here is OEM bearings. most of it, anyway.

Nothing wrong with ACL, Blake's done his homework. Its the people who just throw them in and don't check any clearances that have the problems.

ahh, ok. i just remember quite a few threads here and in other forums, basically trashing ACL. then on the other hand, i see high comp and/or hp builds using ACL. just a little confusing, but if they're good as long as you get your clearances right,

OEM bearings are roughly 200 dollars for main, rod and thrust washers i picked up these ACL's for 50 shipped. ACL bearings are made to meet the "green" clearance of Honda spec which is in the middle. I plastigaged the mains after getting them aligned honed and each main was near the middle of honda spec. |

there is a lot of personal preference in bearing choice. I would imagine that some of the stories with ACL are due to people not measuring the mains because they bought them as "one size fits all" kind of deal.
one thing i have read about ACL's is one side of the bearing being thicker than the other and thus creating a wear problem. |

that rang a bell, sounds familiar. that should be something you can check with a micrometer though.
i'll be getting bearings soon for my F22/H23 build, and if i can get ACL's for a decent price over OEM, i'll go that route.

I thought you sold a bunch of it due to some financial issues... Anyway. Any particular power goal in mind? Looks pretty nice. What do those pistons weigh? What's the compression height?

i sold the cams (JUN) unfortunately and the money i got from them supported me in my time of need without a job.
compression height is 1.218 IIRC with a 6cc dome the weights of the pistons are written on the bottom of them and i want to say they were at 354g |
