Default Burning Oil? Which brand is best for the R?

How much oil does your r burn while in vtec? I noticed I burned a about 1/2 to a quart driving 1000 miles in and out of vtec. Also what different type of oil does everyone use and which seems to work best. I am currently running royal purple but heard good things about amsoil? Please chime in.

I live by the Amsoil!!!

On the track, 0-30 Full Race

On the DD, I use the High Performance Synthetic 5-30.

^^ AMEN for the Amsoil! I ran like five intervals with Amsoil on my LS motor before I swapped in the JDM ITR motor, now I'm running Motul 8100 X-Cess 5w40 and I've found that the less I'm in VTEC the less oil it burns (lol)

I'm using Royal Purple and it seems to not burn all that much, maybe a quart between oil changes, feels really smooth

I run Castrol GTX 5w30. I burned 1/2 qt last time at the track doing 9 30 minute sessions (4 1/2 hours of track time!). I run it because it is cheap as hell and I can pick it up at Vatozone.

Used to run Castrol GTX 5w-30 and just switched to Castrol Syntec 5w-30 due to my oil temps at the track. I'll burn about 1 quart between oil changes.

What were your oil temps with each oil? Is your oil temp sensor in the pan?

my oil temps hit 280-290 at the track. I switched to Syntec because the oil can withstand higher heat better than the conventional. basically instead of buying an oil cooler. I have a sandwich plate for the sensor.

Amsoil Synthetic 10W-30 user here. Don't burn a drop on the street or the track

Wouldn't recommend anything else.

BARDAHL XTC C60 15w50 is my choice.

Oil consumption dramatically reduced on street and track use (much better than Mobil1 5W50 I used before)

Was a Mobil 1 user but switched because I was burning oil....we'll see how amsoil does.
