Default 92 Accord Transmission Problem

From what im reading, it sounds like there are some 92's out there doing the same thing. I was leaving for work early the other morning, and got about 2 miles up the road when my D4 light went out and the transmission felt like it either dissengaged or slipped to 3rd. The light came back on. I got up the road to a stoplight, and when i tried to go again, it felt like it was starting in a higher gear, 2nd im guessing. Anyways, i turned around and came back home and got in my truck and went to work. When the key is in the "on" position but not running, the P light is lit up and so is the D4. Later on i removed the A/T control unit and openend it up and nothing looked wrong, nothing burnt, strange smells, etc. I als tried disconnecting the battery to erase any codes it might have all to no avail. nothing worked. I made a jumper and tried to pull any codes the car may have had, but nothing came up on either the A/T or the OBD I codes. After going in and sitting inside for awhile i went back out to mess around with it a little bit more, i notice when i put the key in the "on" position that the D4 light would turn off with the check engin light, so i started the vehicle up. When i did this i heard 3 "clicking" or popping" noises from the gear shift area. I took the car for a quick test drive and it started off fine, but after about 2 minutes or so, the problem reappeared. Any ideas as to wht i need to be looking at now?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Update, i just got finished pulling the center console out and looking at everything around the shift lever. All the wiring looks good and is in place. Connectiona re good and clean. I did notice though that there is what appears to be oil or grease that looks like it leaked from the shift lock solenoid. Is that normal, does anyone know? All help and ideas to look for are greatly appreciated, and as always. Thank you

i had the same issue on my 91. I ended up changing the A/T control unit and all cleared up. Got a used one online for 110.00.

That clicking sounds like it could be a relay problem. Ask the dealer if there's an "overdrive relay" or "fourth gear relay." If it's going, you would have those exact symptoms.
