I'd just sand the hoole roof down and featheredge the primer into the old paint, as long as it has a smooth transition it should look good, ive had no problem with taping off and priming like that as long as u featheredge

that feathering paint --- man thats a talent.

Id honestly sand the whole roof down rather then trying to paint a section since the new paint will look 100 times better then the old shit on it, or respray the whole car, in the end its worth it.

This was actually the first time I did this much body work. After pulling the dent and filling, just comes down to sanding the right way and going with the body of the car. I started off on the bigger parts with 80 grit, and once I got the bulk of it off I used 180 to feather edge it and get any scratches out. Make sure to use a sanding block on any body work.

yea i got a 12" sanding block and 3m paper, my plan is to block with 80, lay a skim coat, block with 180, then sand with 320, urethane primer, then paint. or should i use high build primer then sealer, im not sure?

by the way, its coming together great!

Yeah its coming along pretty good, just been a very tiring stressful week, Originally it should have been done by now, but you always run into problems. I should be driving it home on Tuesday, and school starts Wednesday, just in time. And as to the high build primer question, im not totally sure about that.

Laquer.

--So today we taped everything up and shot it. Note, I did not shoot the car, my boss did. I did all the body work and priming and it would have been nice for me to paint it since I have never painted with a gun, only prime, but I wanted him to do it so I know it would come out good and watch and learn. We didn't paint the fenders yet because we had to prime them today with a different primer and I gotta sand them tonight, tomorrow morning we will shoot them and put them on the car in the night.

--Really crappy pictures, will have better ones tomorrow.
