It's been a year, did Motive enhance the cap yet? Can someone elaborate more on the 1101 adaptor?

the 1101 is the universal adapter which is shown above. Motive has not come out with any new adapter for hondas. The universal one is pretty easy to use. I haven't had any problem with it.

Universal means every car make, since there are more than one model of adapters, I thought they were new add ons.

So was I. When I first started using this thing I hated it. However, in talking with some other people who have used it and spoken to Motive, I have managed to get it to work without any of the above modifications. My problem was that I screwing the cap down much too far and it would bend. It's surprising how little you need to tighten the cap down to get a good seal, and I only pump the bottle up to about 10 PSI. I can still easily slide/twist the cap on the MC when it's tightened down (much less tight than I had it before when it would leak) and the seal is fine. For those of you who can't get this thing to stop leaking, try going much easier on the wingnuts and don't go past 10 PSI. Works like a charm.

Re: How to: Improve the seal on your Motive Bleeder (travis)
The biggest problem I've had was with the supplied chains for the j-hooks. They're just the right length...for the perfect application. Anything less than perfect fell off for me, or was too short, or was generally a pain in the ***. I actually found myself *missing* zip ties..
I'll try the 10psi, less-tension-on-the-bolts approach this weekend. I think I'm guilty of the sins you talk about...

Yea, if you find yourself saying "f**k, I can't get this damn thing tight enough to stop leaking!" my suggestion might help. It was counterintuitive to me too, but the results were there.

Re: How to: Improve the seal on your Motive Bleeder (travis)
OK guys, I have the same problem with the Motive bleader, if I ask my machinest friend to fabricate an adapter for the honda MC or others if their is interest, who would buy one. I didn't want bug him for 1, but 6 or 7 + he can make something.
I tried the hack job on a stock cap and that didn't work well at all, just wasted a cap and a tube of silicone.
Don't know how much it would cost but I would just like to solve this one.
Any takers??

Re: How to: Improve the seal on your Motive Bleeder (Tom Blaney)
Ok guys, we didn't really come up with any ground breaking design, frankly all that we did was replace the plastic cap with an aluminum one that has a similiar rubber gasket sheet and a threaded nipple for the inlet and holes for the j-hooks. The aluminum won't bend so the seal will remain intact.
Not really worth a whole fab process to resell them, so I think I'll just pass on the info.

Re: How to: Improve the seal on your Motive Bleeder (jc836)
Ok guys I will try and post a photo, but we found the simplest solution for the sealing problem is to cut a circle of softer dense rubber (sorta like the cork or buna rubber gasket sheets) and attach it to the existing rubber seal. The softer rubber makes a perfect seal where the harder rubber won't.
Just had to look outside the box/ er'a circle ...
So that's a freebee

Re: How to: Improve the seal on your Motive Bleeder (Bnjmn)
The simplest solution is to not use the $50 junk that causes more troubles and headaches, and use $2 vacuum tube from home despot.
I flushed the system in my R this afternoon... by myself... with a piece of tube. Oh, i put a loop in it and secured it with a zip tie also.

i love the product and don't have any problems sealing it at all. works great and well worth it.
to each his own and just because it's different doesn't mean it's wrong.

Here's a few photo's , like I said this one turned out to be a no-brainer.
I used some sheet rubber, but cork or gasket sheet will work just as well

Re: How to: Improve the seal on your Motive Bleeder (Tom Blaney)
Thanks for the pics...I think I got the same rubber sheet from Home Depot today. But I didn't bother to put it on. What adhesive did you use?
Anyway, I used the Motive bleeder for the first time today. It leaks at around 17psi. At 15 psi, it drips slowly, so I have no choice but help it out by slowly pumping the brake pedal.
When it works right, does it flow quickly? A

I get pretty good flow as low as 10 PSI. Any more and I'm leaking, so I'm going to try this new gasket idea as well. Still, 10 PSI still beats pumping the pedal.

I've noticed a difference in flow rates between cars, too. My Type R seemed to flow rather slowly even at 20 PSI while my LS seemed to go rather nicely even at only 5 PSI. One thing I did differently the last time is bleed all four corners at once. That should save some time even with the slow movers.

Re: How to: Improve the seal on your Motive Bleeder (krshultz)
Man, that's a hell of a lot of work to use something that is a pain to install and use. I find a vacuum bleeder MUCH better and quicker, plus it will work on anything that has a bleeder, like the clutch slave as well.
