d series ac compressor on b series motor?
ok i did an ls/vtec swap on my car and would like to keep ac. I have been told if i buy a crv ac bracket, the d16y8 ac compressor will bolt up to the crv bracket. Is this true? Will the compressor line up with the crank pulley correctly? any help would be great!

yes this is absolutely true. i am running this on my b16. but here's the trick, you have to take the pulley off of the d-series bracket and put it on the crv bracket.

you may want to try to use the b series bracket you already have if you have one. a buddy of mine used to always bolt up d series comp. using 2 bolts into the brackets that came on the b series engine. he never had any problems running them that way. sorry for lack of details but its free to try it . good luck.

ok, so buy the crv ac bracket, then buy the idle pulley that goes on the ac compressor from a crv, replace the pulley thats on the compressor with the crv one, bolt it up and it should all work?

thats a half *** job! i've seen it before, and i've also seen them get ripped out and tossed down the high way as well.

do it the right way. crv bracket, if you do not have a b-series pulley to go with it, then you will need the pulley and the pulley bracket from the crv as well.
go through the link i provided. it shows a diagram of the pulley, pulley bracket, and the compressor bracket.
compressor bracket part # 38930-P7J-000
pulley bracket part # 38941-P30-000
pulley part # 38942-P2K-T01
pulley adjusted bolt part # 90054-P3F-000 (you will definately need this bolt as well, being that the one off of your d16 is now useless).

sorry for the confusion. i'm taking that you do not no other a/c bracket other than your d-series one.
so if you are buying this starting fresh, then you will need to buy those parts i listed aolng with any other bolts that i have missed, but is necessary for it to work.
the dealer will be able to help you with that.
just a reminder, when you go to buy the compressor belt (if you don't have your old one), you will need to use the belt off of the d16.

chance are it is a b-series bracket. the bolt pattern to the block is the same, it's where the compressor mounts to that is different.
if that is the case your job has just become alot cheaper and easier.
just buy the crv a/c bracket, that's it. then unbolt everything from the ls brakcet and put it onto the crv one. it's cake!

this is to use in any b-series motor in a civic, and continue to use the stcok civic a/c set up.

so you have to order the crv bracket, then the pulley, along with some others?
you could go to a salvage yard and get the WHOLE crv bracket that already has the pulley and all that good stuff right?
