Well guys, I wanted to start my own CD5 restoration thread, but I have some learning to do.

My friend let me borrow all this equipment. I thought it would be easy to weld and electrode on and pull it off with a slide hammer, it's not.

So, I go ahead and try it and these are my results.

Anybody have any advice besides just take my time and learn it?

I did get one cool thing out of the experience though, I got frustrated so I painted my hub caps gun metal until I get my EX's

For smaller sized dents, dry ice is your friend.

Some people say it's a myth, but I've done it before and it's worked.

I don't know anything about body work, there are some in here that do, but have you tried asking in the new Paint and Body forum?

For small dings and dents, a process of heat and extreme cold may force the dent out on its own. Heat the dent with a specialized tool or blow dryer. Once its heated, apply dry ice directly on to the dents surface. Rub in circular motions from the center outwards. The dent should pop out.

NOTE: Dry ice can cause damage to skin instantly. Always wear gloves when handling dry ice.

One more for kicks

....this one is my favorite plus it looks safer to use on paint (air duster/blow dryer):

Maybe they can be thrown into the Accord FAQ for future reference.

Man thats pretty sweet. I'm so going to try that!!! Sorry to jack but wont the dry ice method ruin the paint surface? or won't the PC air blaster ruin the clear coat or something? Thanks!

Eh, I don't think that trick will work with my dent. I'm going to a junkyard tomorrow to pick up a new trunk and see if I can cut out a patch off the quarter panel. I got quite the mess.

Yes I believe if the paint is old it may crack....but the air duster method is safer because it doesn't freeze the paint like dry ice.

I also recommend testing it out at the local junk yard first just to be safe

Where can I get air duster? I might as well give the hair dryer/air duster method a shot tomorrow once I get out of work seeing as I have nothing else to do. And even if the paint does crack, the car is going in for a paint job soon. But, once I figure out where I can pick up a bottle of air duster and try it out on my Accord, I'll post some pictures for future reference and for anyone who is curious to see how well this method works.

you can get air dusters at places like Office Depot, Office Max, Best Buy, Circuit City, Micro Center, Computer Builders Warehouse, etc. You can pretty much find them at any office or computer supply store.

Deffinitely post some pictures if that method works for you.

I didn't have time to try the air duster today, but tomorrow when I get out of work I'm going to run to Office Depot or Staples to pick some up and give it a try. So, there should be some pictures up tomorrow of the outcome.

god damn no amouunt of bondo can ever fix that good luck

also tried the hammer and dolly or block, whatever method
my grandpa has a shitload of them that he used to fix stuff like that with

Lmfao. My friend stopped by that does auto body and he said the same thing. Than he said it's not even worth trying to pull the dent with the gun because he couldn't even tell where the high and low spots were. Maybe some Mequiar's will do the trick

He just wound up telling me although its probably going to be hard to do, go to a junkyard and cut out a piece of quarter panel and reweld it back in

whoa...i forgot to drop in the statement that, when pulling dents with a stud welder you should clear a good range area for you to work with (so that you maintain quality cosmetics)

after connecting the sliding hammer onto the stud, you gently pull on it to EASE the dent outward, do NOT yank or your results will come out like above. (i call it chickenpox) which will in fact lead to the usage of the hammer and dolly method.

Remember: Accords Need Tender Love.
