I went to the dealership a couple times with this problem and first they told me that it was break in. next they changed the transmission fluid which helped a little but they told me if it does not get better they would put in a new transmission.(under warranty) if i end up switching it out ill post.

Anyone hear of having shifting problems in the 08's? I just recently purchased this car, I haven't noticed any of the symptoms above and hopefully I don't so I was just a little curious if anyone on here has experienced that yet.

As this seems to be common enough, but are there any members that have NOT had an incident of the invisible 3rd gear?

I think I'm going to stop by the dealership soon too. The issues been getting more common. True I work less than 5 miles from home and usually go there in the cold mornings, but I've noticed the problem even after I've driven on the highway for some time.

I'm having similiar problems with my 06si w/33k, mostly I95 to/from work. Haven't been to a race track, but do drive "spirited" once in awhile. I switched to the "new" Honda MTF, and made shifting better for a bit, but then still get notchy, stubborn shift every so often. I do agree this most prevelent in mornings/cold weather, but once engine is warm for past 10mi at what RPM do you guys still expiernce problems????

i had the fluid changed for free (even though i'm at 40K miles and over warrantee).
they did a one-time-favor type thing. the shifting is noticeably smoother. not a ton a difference, but the car feels new again.

I've had this problem with two tranny's. I had the transmission replaced at 16k miles because the gears were torn up. They claimed I abused it but i just ground in 2nd and 3rd all the time. I have fun with it every now and then but I never abused it. This 2nd tranny does it too. I am thinking of putting royal purple into it.

"1. Shuffle through your gears upon initial start-up while idling -- Give the shifter a quick run through all the gears to allow the fluid to get moving"
-I believe the car has to be moving to actually get the fluid to move around. The fluid is just sitting in the bottom of the trans. when cold. There may be some trace fluid left on the gears, but not much(other than what they are sitting in) They need to be in motion(driving) to get the fluid to move about. Maybe drive easy till things warm up. Mine seems to do it when @ normal operating temp. though. Just some info I thought I'd add. |

i have the same issue with 3rd gear, grinds easy but only popped out once. Dealer cant duplicate the problem.....so it goes unfixed. Isnt there supposed to be a recall for this soon?
