Default 2001 Civic EX - Occasional Rough Loss of Power at Moderate Speeds

Hi, I'm (obviously) newly registered here and I appreciate any help.

My 2001 Civic (manual transmission) has 122,000 miles and in the last few weeks has had a somewhat alarming problem. It starts normally, and usually drives normally. Every few days, usually when cruising between 20-40mph, the car begins to decelerate. If I push on the gas, the ride may get kind of rough/jerky. It almost feels like I'm in much too high a gear, except, of course, I'm not. Typically, after 5-10 seconds (and a downshift or two) it comes back and runs without a problem. This morning, it happened as I came to a stop light, and when I tried to start again, I got no response from the gas pedal. The car did respond immediately after turning the ignition off and on again.

This actually started 2-3 days after I had the car inspected and oil changed. The only thing "different" about that oil change was that I usually mention to use 5W-20 oil, but this time I didn't. So, I guess there's a good chance I have 5W-30 oil in there, but I feel that's an unlikely reason for these symptoms.

I also just had the whole AC system replaced and some body work done last week, but this started before that.

Other work done on this car, from memory (I don't have my records here) - oil changes every 5K, replaced rear suspension at ~45,000 miles, replaced oil pan ~105,000 miles, spark plugs and fuel system cleaning somewhere around 90,000 miles. I don't believe I've changed the timing chain.

Any ideas what I could be dealing with? Should I continue my search for a trustworthy mechanic in Philadelphia? Bite the bullet and take this to a Honda dealer? Need more information? Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you changed out your igniton coils? Spark Plugs? Look on the spark plug if its white you might have fuel problems. If, you do have that problem try to change out your fuel injectors, fuel filter or try using fuel cleaner treatment.

yea it sounds like your injectors are clogged and arent giving off enough fuel for your car to move.
