Accord Hybrid (2005) - Replacement K & N AIR Filter
Just purchased a 2005 Accord Hybrid and was wondering about replacing the original (OEM) air filter with a replacement K&N AIR filter, not changing it for a K & N performance kit.
Does anyone have any experience with K&N AIR filters in Hybrid cars, Accord or others i.e., Civic or Toyota models?
What I am hoping to get answers to are:
1. If there is any possibility of damaging the electronic sensors on the Hybrid engine?
2. Long term issues, if any?
3. What to be cautious of?
I have successfully used a K&N Filter on my previous 1996 Accord EX (4-cyl), with improved gas mileage, and better throttle response, again this was a replacement K&N filter. I also have one being used on my wife's Subaru with the same benefits.
Your help in answering the above questions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Accord Hybrid (2005) - Replacement K & N AIR Filter (staggar)
I haven't used K&N replacements. I use OEM types because I'm afraid that the greater airflow comes at the expense of filtration. If the ratings are comperable to OEM and you notice improved performance, I guess that's a good thing. As for damaging sensors, I doubt it. Long term issues, possbly less filtration.

Re: Accord Hybrid (Perfectionist)
Thanks for the reply!
Regarding K&N filters I have used one on my wife's Subaru WRX for the past 60,000 miles without any effect, increasing fuel mileage and acceleration response time. I also had one on my previous Accord (1996), with the same benefits. I would on any other car I would use them without question, just now that I got the Hybrid I was being more cautious!
