Default Grinding noise when braking..wtf

this started happening BEFORE i replaced my brake pads and rotors. after i replaced them (thinking maybe the brake pad had worn down to where it was metal rubbing on metal), i still have this sound coming from my driver side whenever i break..let me explain what happens..

i will be sitting still. start driving, pick up to about 5-10 mph, start pressing brake pedal and my car makes a really ugly grinding noise. you can feel it in the brake pedal as well. the grinding is usually the worst when i'm on a downward incline and start braking.. however, when i'm driving about 60-70 and start braking, the sound isn't there! what gives?! could it be my caliper has gone bad? any info will help!

Lits get this straight so youve replaced the pads and rotors and it still makes that noise rite?

check to make sure ur rotors don't have any gashes/cut in them. this happened to someone i know, and one of their rotors just had a huge cut going around it. check all of them, cuz the sound can b kinda tricky to ur ears. at least in his case it was... cuz it sounded like it was coming from the front passenger, but it was acctually the rear passenger...

ok..to get things straight.
yes i have replaced ALL my rotors and brake pads, still makes the same noise. the only thing i can think of is maybe the caliper itself is jacked up but i dont know how that would have happened! i checked all my rotors, they are all fine. i bought them brand new..

When you replaced the pads, were they worn evenly?

i didn't even bother to check to be very honest with you. i THOUGHT they were worn down to the metal and that was what was causing that grinding noise but when i took them off there was still some padding on the brake pad.

It can be the brake caliper. Did you grease the sliding pins on the caliper?

Also, like what one of the guys said above, sometimes the grinding may sound like its coming from the front, but is from the back brakes. Did you check the rear brake pads?

i'm guessing there's something wrong with the caliper? i had the same problem where my calipers locked up and made this noise which was horrible. dad took a look at it (honda mechanic 20yrs) and said the calipers locked up...donno how he fixed it but make sure you do because its gonna kill your new brake pads and possibly ruin your new rotors =\

also, can you drive on it?
i'll ask my pops about it and give you better feedback.

yeah i can drive it..
i'm thinking it might be that caliper locking up when i brake slightly..like it doesn't let go of the rotor..

Try greasing the caliper sliding pins with some high temp caliper grease, to see if it fixes the problem. The caliper sliding pins are in the rubber boots, right before the caliper bolts.
