It had a complete body, I just took everything off. I'm using Duplicolor fabric and vinyl paint for the interior.

So far you seem to be on the right track with the build, but the $1350 you paid for the shell seems to be way overpriced.
Good luck with the build though.

I know I probably did pay a little more than I should have but I was kind of desperate and there aren't too many shells around here in ND and MN. It was about in the same price range as all of the other shells I have seen for sale in the past couple months. The paint wasn't a big deal to me either because I was gonna be painting it no matter what. Thanks for the comments tho.

would you guys really only pay that much? It had a complete exterior most of the interior and dash. I have been looking for a shell around here for about 2 months and this has been around the price range of most of the other shells i was seeing on here. Other than that, I'm glad you decided to go stock tho TBuck. I want to see how urs turns out too.

I think you short changed yourself on the slow16 but you have to start somewhere. I am sure you already realized you paid too much but shit happens. Have fun and make sure do all the prep work and motor work right the first time so you wont have to do it again. Oh!! and research parts and shop around. Good luck.

work done right = feel good moment at the end of the day with the right brew in your hand which makes any man happy... thats how i think of tough work but still respect those who dont want to do it cuz half the time that feel good moment doesnt come for a verrryyyy long time lol

I know i have a lot of work but i really do enjoy doing this. I would have rather bought something that needed some work rather than something that was already built.

Just a little update of what i just got done. I was working on the wiring harness that goes out of the passenger side. I undid all of the flex tubing that was on already and spaced out the wires a little more so i wouldn't have to extend them as much. The wires that are going to the engine harness fit really well, i just need to drill the hole in the lower, center part of the firewall. I am putting the fusebox in the glove compartment and the wires that go to it fit well under where it will be. I also got the wires for the headlight, corners, etc. to go along the fender. I think they will work where they are but i still need to check to make sure and mount them. They also may need to be extended, but i got a little extra distance by recovering them. Here is what it looks like, its kind of hard to tell exactly how it looks but you get the idea.
![]() Wires for the fusebox ![]() Wires for the engine harness ![]() Headlight wires along fender ![]() ![]() This is also the first time I have really messed with wiring and I was wondering about a couple wires that plug into the engine harness. The orange and blue wires are thicker wires and there are 4 wires connected to the orange and 2 connected to the blue. They were each wrapped in electrical tape and I am not sure if this is how it's supposed to be. Here are some pics. Sorry they are pretty blurry but you can pretty much see what i mean. ![]() |

I thought that was my car for a second haha. Mine is in the same shape right now with it all apart in my garage.
$1350 does seem a bit steep for a shell with no motor in that shape. I'm tucking my wires this week too. ![]() Looks like a ton of fun though. Good luck with it. |

I worked quite a bit this weekend and got the wiring just about all finished.
Passenger side fender. ![]() ![]() The only wires i had to extend on this side was the headlight wires. ![]() Driver side fender ![]() ![]() ![]() The only wires i had to extend were the ones for the brake master cylinder. ![]() I'm going to run the wires for the wiper motor through the same hole as the brake cylinder wires are when I put in the motor so it wont stay like this. ![]() Interior pics. ![]() ![]() The wires for the engine harness on the driver's side are going to be tun through the same hole as they were before but not mounted in the same place. I am not sure exactly how i am going to do this until i get the motor in. Bay pics. ![]() ![]() This week I am going to be getting the bay ready for paint. The motor should be here on Thursday or Friday and I am going to start putting it in on Tuesday at school. Before I bring it to school I am going to try to have at least the dash painted if not the whole interior and all put back in the car. After I get the motor in I will be doing the body work and then getting it painted. I will update as soon as I make decent progress again. Let me know how I am doing or give me any suggestions.

Looks like you're on the right track. When I first saw the pics I was thinking that you did pay too much for the shell, but then I read you're in MN/ND. For a 92, there is minimal rust on it so you lucked out there. A bit of sandblasting on the suspension components, some sanding, primer, paint, it'll look great.

Hey I'm in the same boat, but my money is going into the suspension right now new joints and stuff... but yea that is a bit steep I paid $250 for the whole car and that included a running engine but I already took it out.. but it all depends on location and opertunities like they say. Good luck though its already starting to look good..
