New battery. Car still won't start!
Well, as some of you know, my car was broken into and some stuff taken, but only stereo equipment. I pulled the car into my garage and have not started it since (the week before Christmas). I tried starting it a few times, but got nothing electicity-wise. I replaced the battery, and everything works now, but the car won't start. It started fine when I stopped driving it, but now it won't turn over at all.
So....I am thinking it is the starter. Can I get an amen?

Does the starter even try... do you hear any clicks or noises coming from it. Maybe try and give it a love tap with the butt end of a screwdriver. Sometimes that frees it up.

When I turn the hey to the start position, I get one click, and that's it. Like I said, that used to happen every once in a while, but after a few tries, it would start up. Now, I turn the key 10-20 times, with only a click, but no start.

Make sure your cables have good solid connections to the battery. If there's a lot of corrosion built up around the terminals, it could short out the start. Happened on my Taurus all the time.

if it just clicks when you turn the key its def the starter, no doubt. but if it makes no noises at all check your grounds.
i had that same problem a while back it would click and not start every once in a while then a couple more tried it would start. eventually it just started clicking every time and not starting so i had to replace it and tada...

Re: (slowEGchris)
Thanks for the replys everyone! As far as push starting it, I don't need to drive it, I have the 4x4 Sierra, I am just trying to make sure that it is indeed the starter that needs to be replaced. As I stated, that was what I thought, and it looks as though that is the problem. Maybe I will replace it when it starts to get warm [in Michigan that is].
