Got 2 qts of Amsoil synchromesh MTF sitting on the bench in my shop. I just have to find an hour or so to swap the fluid out.....plus the floor in my garage is a little cold, so I think I'm going to try hit my buddy up to use his lift in a nice heated garage.

I think one of the biggest factors or 3rd gear notchiness is not letting the engine warm up before driving. I find that most times i have issues is when im rushing and drive the car while cold. the other times its mostly my error. i have the comptech short shifter i still have a few issues. i also got the Corsport bushings that i have to install hopefully that will correct it as well.

So where can i get the AMSOIL tranny fluid. And when i do, will the dealership charge me to change it out? Will it have any long-term effects on the tranny? Somebody said they were concerned about that i can't remember who though.

This was happening to me more and more often. I changed my MTF to the new Honda fluid, and it completely disappeared.

So which is better then? This new "Honda fluid" or the AMSOIL tranny fluid?

I used to have this problem and while it is fun buying new stuff for your car, I'm not sure it's necessary to get rid of the 3rd gear problem. I have done nothing to my car and it went away on it's own. Perhaps I am a rare case but maybe once you work the car in, it will go away.

I'd wait till 10k and see if it happens anymore. I'm up to almost 20k and it hasn't happened in months for me. Just trying to save you a few bucks. You might want the comptech short shifter anyways though.

Well i'm just over 10K right now and the problem wasn't as bad as it was before, but it's still noticeable sometimes.

I have been having the same issue with my 07 SI. I thought it was just me but it's good to know that this a known issue. I will wait a bit as I only have about 4k miles.

Yeah, this issue has caused me to always be cautious going into 3rd since its made me grind going into 3rd a few times. Hopefully honda figures a way to fix this.
