Default turbo d16a8 aka zc

ok i have a d16a8 aka the zc....been told a t25 or 14b will work best...kinda not what i want since its a mitsu turbo...looking at a t3/t4 set up thats a trim57...i have been told its a bit much then told it is perfect...ok my comp is 9.1 on the motor and is stock internal...wanting to boost 6-8psi daily driven and 10-12 psi in race mode...is this possible? do you think my motor will handle it? i will be getting it tuned by jotech in dallas.

thanks beforehand

First thing you need to understand is that psi doesn't mean anything, its power that kills motors. Your stock motor should be good to at least 230hp but people have made more on these. These motors have the strongest stock d series rods or so I hear. I would go with a straight t3 if you're not looking to set any hp records and to have a fun street car.

get like a t3 off of say a volvo or saab. They work well for setups like yours and theyre relatively cheap. It would be a t3 with a .42 ar compressor side and a .48 ar turbine side. Will make for awsome spool and get you your power levels. I believe they start to loose efficiency at around 300hp so unless your planning for more than that this turbo will be very nice.

A 57 trim t3/t04e on a d16 will give you 12psi by 5500rpm and ~250whp. A saab/volvo turbo off ebay (50 trim T3) will give you 18psi before 4500rpm (quicker with a 3" dp/exhaust), and around 250whp before it starts blowing hot air (~28lb/min at 18psi). Its also half the price if you pay $100 for it AND get it professionally rebuilt.

If you plan on building the motor before the kit goes on, by all means go with the bigger turbo, assuming you plan on having it tuned at 20+ psi. Otherwise thats like a bike with 78 gears - overkill and useless.
