1960's Honda Cuby Engine, Dealer promotional item.
I know this is a long shot, but I'm posting this to see if anyone might have any information on these little engines, or even have some literature, or if I get really lucky, actually have one.
Here's what I found after searching google for a few minutes:
"Little engine purportedly used for training technicians, or for schools, eventually sold off to dealers for displays in the 1960s."
"it is a promotional motor given to Honda dealers in the 60's"
"This engine was made by honda in the early 60s for the sole purpose of a training aid. The engine was later sold off to its dealers to be used as displays."
"1962 HONDA GENERAL-PURPOSE ENGINE T10: This engine was produced for children's training use for Tama Tech, which opened in October, 1961. It was based on the E40 generator engine and was disassembled and assembled to teach students about engines. It was not marketed."
Here's a few pictures of the one I recently bought:
As with all my antique Hondas, it's going to need a little work, but hopefully I'll have this little jewel fully restored, and running in the near future.
Here's a photo of one that is in prestine condition, never used, just kept in the box all these years:
To give you an idea of it's size:
Another picture I found, can anyone identify the car that this Cuby engine happens to be mounted to (hint, if you know me, you should know what type of car it is)?
A short video of one running:
http://www.cmsnl.com/classic-h...d=122
It's strange were these pop up, the guy I bought mine from found it in the garage of a house he bought, others were found in garage sales, some are still kept by their original owners. If you, or someone you know has one of these, or any literature on them, please PM me.

Yeah, I don't like the red either, glad the one I have is silver. I "think" the red ones are the Japanese version, all the pictures I came across that are red, were from Japanese websites. Who knows though, maybe different years had different colors.

You are devoted to your classic honda.
Did you ever have any luck finding a Japanese bicycle for your other little motor?
On a side note, your s600 has inspired me to make my own pedal car because I could never restore a full s600 as much as I would love to drive one. So instead my kid will drive one

Never say never. It was less than 3 years ago when I was just looking at S600's, thinking I would never be able to own one. Since then I've had two.
I don't think these are pedal cars, but along the same lines. Notice on the right, the S600 mini. (Huge pic, but it's the only one I've got like it)

I've found a few, but they are more than what I want to spend for one. They seem to bring around $1,000 plus shipping from Japan. I'd rather keep the Cub F engine in a display case before I spent that much on an old bike.
Pic of my other Honda engine (1952 Honda Cub F bicycle engine) for those wondering what we're talking about:

Re: 1960's Honda Cuby Engine, Dealer promotional item. (DUFFM4N)
I got a few questions maybe someone on here might be able to help me with:
So I started working on this little bugger, trying to get it running, it'll turn over and run for a few seconds, but I can't keep it running because of the carb. It's missing the float bowl, and I know I will never be able to find a replacement part, because the float bowls on these were made of glass.
So what would you do? I've got a 19.7 cc engine with a bad carb. I'm thinking of looking for a few different carbs off of old small general purpose engines (hopefully I can find something less than 50cc), and trying to adapt them to fit onto this engine. Or maybe a carb off an older Honda product from the 60's, like the Honda S65 motorcycle, but the carb on that was just way to big (duel floats). Maybe off an XR50 dirtbike. Thing is, I'm not very good on tuning carbs, let alone tuning what would be a huge carb on a small engine. Would it be a bad idea to put a carb designed for an engine double this one's size, but run it lean?
Or I was thinking of buying a newer weedwacker carb and seeing if that will work, but those are all designed for 2-stroke engines (this little guy is a 4), anyone know if that makes a difference?
Or does anyone know of any carbs designed to work with sub 1hp or sub 25cc four stroke engines?

Re: 1960's Honda Cuby Engine, Dealer promotional item. (Mr.OB*GYN_Rhett)
I started the restoration of this little guy.
Before:
Taking it apart:
I put a quarter on the to top of the piston to show how tiny it is:
After:
It was kind of neat taking this apart. From the start, I was seeing numbers painted on parts, and as I took more parts off, the numbers kept getting smaller and smaller. So I'm guessing if I had a copy of the instructions, I'd see the how the numbers would tell the builder what part number their working with, and what sequence it was meant to be built.
Now the pictures above are only a few of what I took, I tried so hard to fully document the disassembly process, with notes and tons of pictures, so that I know exactly how to put it back together; but I goofed up when taking out the cam gear, I failed to note it's tdc, so I can't put this back together until I find an original or copy of the instruction sheet (which shouldn't be to long, I met a guy online who's got one of these engines, and he's got the original instructions and says he'll make me a copy).
In the mean time, I'm going to paint the front and top covers and gas tank, and fully clean the actual engine itself.
I'll post some more pics as I make progress.
Other plans, maybe a little mini turbo kit, lol

I dont know about 4strokes, but I've seen some custom turbo setups for R/C cars, 2stroke.
Here's an example, regular size turbo on the right, custom tiny one on the left.
All reports are its a poor waste of time
Of course there are always mini superchargers too

Update for those who care, I've got it 99% restored.
Here's some pictures, new paint:
Here's a copy of a Honda Bulletin letter to the Dealers about the Cuby engine:
Only 800 made, at an original cost of only $15 per engine.

looks really nice in that new paint.
$15 original price, that was ages ago and we all know how the price depreciates as soon as its off the lot, so I'll give you $10 for it
