Best replacement engine for D16Y7 on '97 EK
Hi!
The car is a '97 Civic CX on it's original D16Y7. The engine spun a rod bearing the other day. Luckily I got her home and in my garage.
I don't have the time or desire to tear down the current engine for a rebuild. I just use this car for commuting. Local junkyards sell used D16Y7 for $300, so it seems like throwing in another one will be the quickest and easiest fix.
My question is, what other engines are direct replacements for my D16Y7? When I say direct, I mean no change to transmission, ECU, exhaust manifold, etc.
An ebay seller says this JDM ZC Motor and this JDM D15 Motor are direct replecements for my D16Y7. Could someone confirm that these engines are dierect replecements, or what would be necessary for the swap? Also, please let me know what the engine codes are and if they offer any more power than the D16Y7. I couldn't find this information searching.
I'm willing to pay around $500 for an engine better than the D16Y7, but I'm not willing to pay the few hundred more that a complete D16Y8 swap would take with all the extra components.
Thanks for any help!

Welcome
whos gonna do the swap?
your options would be more if you were willing to do simple mods, that HT members would talk you through.
you have lots of Qs, try searching for awhile.
