My mobility is getting better, I'm going up and down the stairs alone and I can walk with a cane but the pain really isn't .
I feel like I might have made a bad decision with getting this surgery, but then again it's only been 2 weeks today since i had it, this will probably take 12 weeks before it's really healed up enough to make a rear judgement.
I'ts raining today so I'm in ALOT of pain, this is the first real rainy muggy day since the operation so I'ts been a real rude awakening. I was in bed until 2pm
I'm trying to stay positive but man it's hard. I guess god puts us through these things for a reason, it really makes you respect all the things we can do when were healthy.

Stay positive, you'll get better and stronger with time. Try to take it easy and get your health back. I know what you mean as far as the weather. The rods in my leg and my arm always let me know when rain is coming

I went for blood work yesterday because one of the incisions is leaking a clear/yellow fluid. We need to make sure it's not another infection.
I also saw my my pain doctor and i told him how bad I'm doing as far as pain goes, told him I'm worse now then I was prior to the accident. He asked why I didn't call him and I almost fell over. I told him I did call and I was even there 1 time to see my other doctor and I had asked for the medicine change he had promised prior to the surgery. Well he said he thought my surgeon had given me something for the pain and that why he wouldn't. He asked what i had been taking then and i told him the same stuff i have been on for the last 1.5 years..He almost fell off his chair, he said so you basicly had nothing for the new pain from the surgery.. I said NO $#it. He felt really bad and it was a huge miscommunication. So he made some changes, but when i went to go fill them my ins rejected them and wont pay..lol I cant win..

My mobility is getting better and I'm walking with a cane now though. There's no way I'll be able to go back to work in 2 weeks like I'm supposed to, I'm not even able to drive yet.

Good news finally!!!! I just got the call that the blood work came back ok and there's no infection from what they can tell... wow thats weird how i was just posting about this..
This still doesn't explain all the junk leaking out of the incision though. But i'm happy

Hey Tom, glad to hear that you're able to move around better now and that there's no infection in the labwork. Make sure your diet consists of lots of different fruits and vegetables. There's just no substitute for good health through what you eat.

Hang in there brother. That fluid leaking, is it thick or thin? Make sure your doctor knows about it if it continues. You shouldn't have discharge this long after surgery. I had several surgeries and I did have some clear/yellowish discharge for 2-3 days, but never after weeks. And to your surgeon for not prescribing you any pain meds.

Wait a sec, there is a guy with the job title "pain doctor," and he isn't in professional wrestling?

I'm glad things are looking a little better Tom.

Just wanted to give an update. I'm still out of work and might not be going back soon. Pain is still very high. Really high on rainy days lol.
My doctors have decided that since the fusion didn't help much and I'm not responding to any of the pain management medications, they want to implant a nerve stimulator. The nerve stimulator has leads that they will implant along my epidural space in my spine. The leads have some sort of small electrode that sends out a pulse frequency that scrambles the pain signals that would normally go to my brain. Because the signals get intercepted before reaching my brain it's supposed to stop me from feeling the pain from my lower extremities . The unit that controls the leads is about the size of an Ipod and gets installed in the fatty area to the left or right of my spine just above the waistline . I'll have have surgery every 5-8 years to have the unit removed and the batteries changed.
The real scary part is that i could potentially due more damage to myself if i go back to work and my normal life with this and overdue things, since i wont feel the pain anymore including areas that are not damaged now.
The doctor said that this is basically the last thing they can do, it's not recommended very much as it's very expensive , he said most ins companies wont pay for it as the initial cost will be 30-40k and then the up keep on it every 5-8 years. He said he will fight with the ins company for me though.

I have all my stuff up for sale. I'll sell everything i own for a decent price. i was asking 20k for the turn key race car and 30k for everything i own. I'll knock 5 k off that and take 25 for everything. That's alot of stuff .If anyone is serious just give me a call, there's way too much to list.

I thought medicinal marijuana was for glaucoma? Anyway, lets keep it going people. One of our best still needs our help.
