take a bible/heavy book and pound on it. seriously.

I had a cyst on my wrist. My PCP told me that a lot of times pressure can cause them to "burst" and then they will go away on their own.

I just kept putting a lot of pressure on it w/ a bible, and it went away.

from webmd:

Ganglion Cyst Treatment

Self-Care at Home
In the past, home care has included topical plaster, heat, and various poultices. It even extended to use of a heavy book to physically smash the cyst (sometimes this is called Bible therapy).

I don't think this is suggested anymore, b/c it doesn't guarantee the cyst will go away. However, the only other option is surgery.

Burn it off. Take a lighter, WD-40, and the cyst. See what happens.

Soaking it in warm/hot water w/ Epsom salt will really help alleviate some of the pain & will help it heal faster. Smashing them or popping them is not always the best idea as it can make them worse....

Are you ******* serious? I have one on my left wrist, it hurts like 2 weeks out of the year (when the seasons change). I plan on getting it removed at some point surgically, I don't plan on smashing it with something. That would hurt sooo bad Click the image to open in full size.

I just had this done 2 weeks ago and had my stitches taken out Tuesday.

There are many different kinds of cyst I believe, so it's best to get checked out by a dermotologist. They sent mine out to have tested just in case (money), but mine was a non harmful hereditary type cyst, but again, there are different kinds. My was on the top of my head.

DO go see a doctor DON'T smash it with a book, lol.

I don't think smashing it with a book is a good idea, what if it's not a cyst but something else? What if it bursts under your skin? Don't take a chance, go to the doctor.

I found a weird one on my side by my rib cage about the size of a pea. I got it removed because it was such an annoying feeling. Now I have scar tissue that is about the size of a pea and just as annoying Click the image to open in full size. Oh but I paid to have that...

My buddy had one that swelled up to the size of a fist on his back. He didn't know what to do and then one day he stretched and it popped. I swear there was SOOOOO MUCH PUSS AND BLOOD CLOTS FLOWING OUT. A co worker and I had to squeeze it out. Man a LOT came out. I am serious when I say we used a WHOLE roll of paper towels. I'd have to say there was a cup full of it in there. No joke.

That's ******* disgusting. I got a complete visual from that description. Click the image to open in full size.

You gotta be careful when you cut them, or they burst. The area can get infected very easily, and you defiantly don't want that.

Dermatologist is your best bet.

you should use a dremel and a cutting disk at 30,000 rpm. That'll take care of that bitch.

I've had surgery three times on a ganglion on my wrist - it always came back.

What finally worked permanently (so far, three years) was the syringe. You go to the doctor, he'll suck it out and reinject cortisone or something.

hurts like hell, but works. better than pounding it with a bible that's for sure.
