Default GM putting Honda J35 engine in Saturns

The new J35 used in the Acura RL produces 290 hp (224 kW) at 6200 rpm and 256 ft·lbf (347 N·m) at 5000 rpm. This engine was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2005.

The J35A91 used in the Honda Ridgeline produces 247 hp (184 kW) at 5750 rpm and 245 ft·lbf (332 N·m) at 4500 rpm.

The J35 is also used by General Motors in the Saturn VUE, though GM refers to it as the L66.

It is a 3.5 L (3471 cc) SOHC V6 with VTEC Variable Valve Timing and is made by Honda in Marysville, Ohio. The same engine, the J35A3 is used in Honda's Acura MDX SUV. It is built at Honda's Anna, Ohio engine plant. It is interesting to note that the parts content sticker on the 3.5 L VUE states the country of origin to be Japan for both the engine and transmission.

In the VUE, the engine produces 250 hp (186 kW) and 242 ft·lbf (328 N·m).

Not sure if this is a repost. And yes this is old news...
I found it interesting, a honda engine in saturns... who are notorious for being shitty cars.

Cliff: General motors bought rights to the J35 engine. In exchange Honda bought rights to the Circle L diesel engine, that is in some European Civics. General motors puts engine in saturn vue....

Yeah it would be the only reason I would even consider a Saturn.

saturn = gm = unreliable for the most part. I guess they just realized it.

I had heard talks of GM wanting to buy rights for the F22 (sohc accords) but honda didn't want to sell it I guess.

The Vue has had the Pilot engine/tranny for a couple years. I actually like some of the new Saturn designs. (Sky, Aura ,Outlook)

The sky is very nice. However, they ****ed up on the redline engine already and stopped production for awhile. Not sure if they have figured the problem out yet.

any links? cause this was not on the gm site I frequent, which makes me think it was just a testing issue...and not a production issue

I curently own the Denail and a recentley purchased like yesterday 07 2500hd duramax and I can honestley say these are GREAT vehicles. 620fp of tourque thank you sir may I have another.

AFAIK, the salesmen always told me the Redline wouldn't be out until Spring 07...

Edit:

What Saturn DID realize is that they're designs were ugly as expletive so they started rebadging Opel/Vauxhalls.

Do a search for sky redline forums, there is a main one and they have a sticky about it. Can't remember the name of the forum, google it up.

Interesting. Well, I hope they fix the problem. The Redline was in my list of possible cars a few years down the road.

not exactly. the opel/vauxhalls do not meet emission/crash standards in the US. The Opel Corsa, for example, was supposed to be a rebadged saturn but it was going to cost them $3B to change the specs, factory, etc to produce them for the US. By 2014 all Opels/Saturns will be interchangeable.
