Default Can anyone who actually KNOWS clear up the ZC vs D16a8 question?

I've been wanting a ZC for over a year, just been saving money and waiting for the right time. Anyways, while browsing I found out about the D18a8. They problem is when I try to research information on it, there are so many different opinions. From what I understand this is what ive seen.

1. JDM ZC and D16a8 are exactly the same, just different stamp and different valve cover?

2. the d16a8 has stiffer valvesprings, higher cam lift?

3. then I see a lot of argument over the "ps" rating, reguarding cat, no cat.

So if number one is true, then the ZC part list
http://www.thezcr.com/forums/s...12262
should work for the D16a8?

ok thanks guys!

You really need to go over this and fix it if you really want some help.

D18 ??? D16
A8 ??? Y8
What are you wanting out of this? are you looking for parts for the zc?

Help us... help you.

As far as my books specify there is not an D16a8.

<slaps forehead>

There is indeed a DOHC D16A8. Every ED9 1.6-16i CR-X in Australia came with one. They are all fitted with cats. They are equiv in spec to the JDM EF7 CR-X Si & EF3 Civic Si (the JDM cars come with their own locally stamped version - aka the ZC) there is a small difference between the two in terms of power output but this can be attributed to the differing fuel qualities of each nation. The europeans also have an JDM Si equiv. Theirs are fitted with a DOHC motor but with no cat...ie: the D16A9.

There you go.

To add, in EDM land, we had the D16A9 from 1988/1989 and the D16Z5 from 1989/1991
The A9 does not have o2 sensors, and has (most noticeably from the outside) different evap system sensors and a different ECU.
The D15Z5 has an o2 sensor, and uses the PM7-x04 ecu.
