i thought it's just exhaust length (which on the SLR is EXTREMELY long) and/or it had to be after the front wheels. not sure.

Re: (FUCATYPR)
The thing that most people have against a side exit, is breathing in exhaust fumes while stopped. For street cars, a "side" exit exhaust that comes out by the fenders is overkill IMHO.
If your car is a race car, thats not as much of an issue...

No, it's pretty short.

Re: (DSRxPRESIDENT)
in NC the exhaust just has to exit outside of the passenger area. basically where no exhaust fumes, will get inside the cabin.
its a safety thing (carbon monoxide)
i know it varies from state to state, but i think its the same principle

for all you idiots and hard parkers, side exhausts on turbo cars means less back pressure and the ability to build boost at a lower rpm, your not increasing horse power, just making your power band bigger. its the reason alot of truck guys on run the exhausts straight up through the hood.

Re: (NAallTheWAY)
wow the integra is super stealth, with a muffler integrated into the deal as well
whats up with those riced out show cars that someone posted the link to?
that **** is hideous, and the "sideways exit" exhaust is retarded and worthless.

for road racing, some tracks have a noise level limit. That's why you see some rear exhaust aimed to the side.</TD></TR></TABLE>
that makes no sense.... you have a noise limit so you eliminate the resonator and muffler??? most use a side exit because provides a short free flowing path for the exhaust and produces the most power. it also eliminates in car noise by not having the exhaust dump right under you.

not at all. most states require the exhaust to come to the back of the car, or on pickups require the exhaust to come to the end of the cab.
