Default CEL Code 20

Anyone have any insite on how to fix this?

I know it stands for:

Electrical Load Detector
defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

But where is it?

first off whre did u find that code from cuz i cant seem to cross that code with an OBDII equivalant. anyway this is how i would start.

the ELD unit is inside the underhood fuse box. there is a 3 pin connector for the ELD unit as follows.
1. BLK/ORN(FUSE 4-underdash) 2. BLK(Ground 201) 3. GRN/RED(ELD unit output)
first off make sure this connector is plugged in then check fuse 4 under dash. next back probe the BLK/ORN wire with the red lead of your multimeter and put the black lead to the negative terminal of the battery and make sure u have 12V. if thats good make sure u have a good ground by back probing the black wire with your red lead and connect the black lead to the positive terminal of the battery. if thats got 12v its good. if all thats good u need a scanner for the next part. u need to check what the computer's reading from the ELD unit is compared to the actual reading coming from the ELD unit. thats how i would start to diagnose your problem. the ohter thing u could do is take it to the dealer cuz if the ELD is the fault then thats gonna be expensive. good luck buddy

You cannot get an OBD1 code from an OBD2 system

The datalink connector is in the drivers side floor well, near the center console.

OP: are you sure you got your informatiion right?

iunderstood the service conector was inside the obd2 plug. just shorting out 2 pins was like shorting the obd1 blue 2 pin.

EDIT: heres a list i found. i know 54-92 are obd2 codes in an obd1 format

1 O2A - Oxygen sensor #1
2 O2B - Oxygen sensor #2
3 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
4 CKP - crank position sensor
5 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor
6 ECT - water temperature sensor
7 TPS - throttle position sensor
8 TDC - top dead centre sensor
9 CYP - cylinder sensor
10 IAT - intake air temperature sensor
12 EGR - exhaust gas recirculation lift valve
13 BARO - atmospheric pressure sensor
14 IAC (EACV) - idle air control valve
15 Ignition output signal
16 Fuel injectors
17 VSS - speed sensor
19 Automatic transmission lockup control valve
20 Electrical load detector
21 VTEC spool solenoid valve
22 VTEC pressure valve
23 Knock sensor
30 Automatic transmission A signal
31 Automatic transmission B signal
36 traction control found on JDM ecu's
41 Primary oxygen sensor heater
43 Fuel supply system
45 Fuel system too rich or lean
48 LAF - lean air fuel sensor
54 CKF - crank fluctuation sensor
58 TDC sensor #2
61 Primary oxygen sensor
63 Secondary oxygen sensor
65 Secondary oxygen sensor heater
71 random misfire cylinder 1
72 random misfire cylinder 2
73 random misfire cylinder 3
74 random misfire cylinder 4
80 Exhaust Gas Recirculation insufficient flow detected

I will say it again... Our cars do not give THOSE single or 2 digit DTC's. Those are OBD1 codes. Our cars are OBD2, which use a Pxxxx code. You cannot jump 2 pins and get an OBD1 code off an OBD2 ECU like ours. You just can't do it. I have never seen it, heard of it, or read about being able to do that ANYWHERE.

Here is a full list of HONDA SPECIFIC DTC's if you want to know what I am talking about..... NOTE: this is not a FULL LIST. Only the ones that are used by Honda/Acura. There are an assload more, but it is a HUGE list.

is your car canadian or japanese made??? eg or eh??? if it's made in canada your would have to switch out the fusebox because canadian fuseboxes don't have eld sensors built into them. i had the same prob with a b16 swap into an eh
