HID retrofit pics into EG headlights with E55 projectors and D2S 4300k bulbs
Housings = Ebay black housing clear glass lights
Projectors = E55 (or bmw x5)
HID kit = Aftermarket brand, with d2s bulb converters
Bulbs = Phillips 4300k
I did the retro myself, it was one of the easier mods ive ever done. I would compare it to installing an intake. (just more time involved) This whole set up costed me $75. I got the ballasts used for $50. I got the bulbs and projectors free (thanks to the body shop at our dealership) I paid $25 for the d2s conversion plugs from ebay. And the headlights were sent to me, after a month of me bitching about no lights, the ebay company refunded me my $100, but sent the headlights anyways.
It was pretty straight forward. Heat up the lights, take them apart, mount projector so it will point straight, screw it down, glue it back togther. If anyone is afraid of doing this, dont be. I'd never had any sort of experiance before, and everything came out perfect. No leaks, no fog. Anyways, on to the pics
Comparing to my brothers 2001 celica with aftermarket 5400k bulbs, and halogen projectors in the day time:
Same comparison at night: (and yes i know there 2 spots where the projectors arent aimed comming out the top. I didnt expect it and should have made a shroud for the projectors to contain that.)
how they look at night:
all by themselves:
All and all they work great. The only thing i would do differently, is make a shroud for the projector. I didnt think about the refectors behind the projector too much, but they also shoot some light out at random spots. Its not as bad as you'd think.
Next Ill get pics of my car next to my GF's 02 325i. She's jealous because mine are brighter than hers
questions? comments?
