Default Do i give a refund or not?

well i had shipped a package to a customer and had it fully insured on everything. and it was damaged on the way there. the product was 100% functional and working.

Now my friend tell me i dont need to give him a refund because i did what i was suppose to do. But when i think about it he didnt get what he paid for but then that also means that i will be in the hole some money and he wont be.

The Shipping company is denying the claim. ive had the claim reopened 3 times already and after this time they cant do much more.

Im not sure what i should do id like to hear your opinions on this. cause ive always been a good business man when it comes to selling items.

I hate being in the situation

For the sake of keeping a good reputation, i would refund the guy, and have him send you back the package.

Why are they denying it? Poor packaging? What shipping company?

You should give a refund or replace the part. That would be the right thing to do.

Try to come to an agreement with the customer or just send him a replacement.

This is why you would be the kind of person I would do business with. Do what you feel you need to do, it's your gut feeling and it's right.

only reason i went with UPS instead of USPS is my customer wanted the lights on a certain date fo a road trip... and USPS wouldnt garuntee delivery. UPS did. price difference was only a couple bucks

Well improper packaging is all on you, so I would do the right thing and refund.
I mean you're taking a small hit here, but you've probably made a lot to.
It's all about a fishbowl, you got to give some and take some from it.
can't have it all

I bought some injectors one time and they came to me in non working order from someone off HT. The guy thought it was odd, I returned it to him and he sent some working ones. He was a great guy, but I forgot his name!!

this is UPS's fault. not yours. but if you feel the need to be a good person, you could give him a partial refund. i never ship via UPS anymore and neither should anyone else. they not only f*ck with your package, they even steal packages. ship via DHL.
