Default external coil to internal coil

i just put a F22B DOHC with an interal coil, into a 93 prelude that had a blown up H23A with an external coil. i have read how you are supposed to rewire it, but i dont understand, could someone please tell me a little bit more descriptively on how to do it, thanks

if you are using the h23 harness, you have to use the h23 dist with external coil. i tried to convert mine to internal coil for the hell of it, and never got it to work. you have to splice together the thick blk/yel and yel wire that go to the external coil on the harness. but again, i tried this and it did not work for me so i wouldnt try it if i were you

I did the f22b swap in my old 4th gen and I converted it to external.. and external coil is alot better anywayz.. IMO... basically you take everything out of the internal and put the external stuff in it.. and use the internal base... I had to hook up a green wire to the ignitor... let me get my write up I had for it. and I'll post it.. :D

i figured it out. i think you can just take coil out of the distributor, then the one wire that goes to internal coil, run that one through the empty pin hole on the connector and i am pretty sure all of the insides will work. i did that and got spark, i just havent got it running yet. (waiting on new radiator)

thats exactly what you do.. the empty hole where a wire should go is where you run the extra wire.. :D

If anyone is still around I have a usdm H22A4. For some reason it came with an internal coil dizzy. I dont even know what kind of wire harness im using. Car is a 96 EK, so I think its the EK harness. I want to convert to external coil dizzy. I have the obd1 ignition coil (2 plugs with 2 wires a piece, Blue and blk/ylw both plugs?). I dont know how to wire the coil to my dizzy. Dizzy is a TD-77 from 97-01 Prelude. Can some please help?!

thats and OBDII distributor, you can't use it. there are sensors that are in OBDI distributors that on the OBDII prelude the sensors are on the oil pump. if you're going OBDI you need a different distributor

So my best bet is to get an obd1 dizzy? Should I just get a dizzy with an internal coil? Which dizzy? Or should I stay on the external conversion and get OBD1 dizzy with External coil? Still which dizzy? By the way engine is OBD2. but, I'm using OBD1 P13 ECU.

yeah, you need an OBDI distributor, internal or external is your preferance, you just need to wire either up correctly

I used my H23 harness when I did the H22 swap and just used a 30amp blade fuse to jump the extra plug going to the distributor. Internal coil has been working just fine with no problems.

I finally got my h22a4 EK running on the road. Used internal coil dizzy, resistor box, but I did have to start over on the wiring. ,I used a 96 Civic DX harness. I doubt if internal or external really makes a diff as long as the wiring is correct.

I did this dizzy swap with the fuse and everything. I am still not getting spark. I have an f22 block with an h23 head. What could be wrong?
