Nice find i bought my 98 cw ITR for $3100 crashed front and rear. She had been hit in the rear and pushed in to a wall. I rebuilt the car back up and here she is now three years later.. Now my daily driver and hpde car.

Now...

Right after the rebuild..

Next to the cone which was also a rebuild in our shop..

Dont loose faith it can be done but is not easy..

For some reason I couldn't see any of the pics posted here, but good luck on your build man. I've been working on my own 98 CW theft recovery since last June (bought on my 19th birthday), and has also been a dream of mine. I've been loving the work ever since I got it.

Unfortunately I didn't take to many pics of the car right when I got it, I just got started working. It sounds like I'll have it easier than you, I have many small problems (ABS, trim, electrical, tranny, brakes, rust, body) everywhere except the engine (just rebuilt). :-) Hope to finish it when I get home...

New to the site, by the way...looks like a good one <--- nOOb

Good luck,
Jake

...sorry about my pics, it should load any day now...

Thats awesome man. I wish mine still had teh original C5. Hell, I'd be head over heals happy if I was able to find the C5 with a matching VIN, but I know that is never going to happen.

How do you guys feel about the 96 spec 4x114 lug with brakes on the R? I know the braking isn't as good as the 98 spec, but the price makes it much more appealing.

I'm also considering removing ABS since it's going to be super expensive for all the computers that I'm missing.

Personally, I think that depends where you want to go with your car. If you care about performance, then definitely save up some money (perfect time to get an aftermarket setup). If you care about it being clean or the prestige of a Type-R, then definitely at least get a 5-lug. If you just want to drive, then it's your car...make it work for you.

I dont know about NY, but when you purchase a vehicle from out of state in MD (salvage, theft, clean), no matter what it is given a nice brand new clean title when you register it.

question. If I bought and R shell and an RS donar car and swapped EVERYTHING including the dash to the ITR shell, wouldn't I be able to register the ITR shell as an RS cuz the VINs would be transfered too?

(I know its illegal BUT would it work is the question)

Thats what I was thinking, hell it'd even work with a white LS. What I wanted to do was find an obd1 LS with a clean title that was wrecked. Buy it and just register the car like that. Inspection wouldnt be a problem since the registration would say its obd1 and you just scan the registration anyhow in new york. and a cop wouldnt think to check Vins if the vehichles title said white integra.

BUT the kicker is, who the hell wants to pay 1500 for a clean title?

I was thinking more on the lines of buying a stripped to death ITR shell and a high milage clean titled RS for like 1000. Swap EVERYTHING including the dash and door vin then just trash RS shell. Couldn't you then register the ITR swapped shell as the RS and pay insurance as a RS but it really be an ITR?

Guys... All you need is a title for a white dc2. Everything else can be whatever. The interior parts can be from any 94-01 teg. Who gives a shit as long as they are the same color. All a cop is gonna look at if you get pulled over is your registration, and your registration sticker on the car, and plate numbers on both. But.. it can get involved. The cops on rare occasions look at vins if they suspect the car has been stolen, or if there are reports of stolen cars in the area. But heres the kicker..in NY when you buy a shell with a salvage title, you have to put everything back into the car to make it look stock. You can buy dash boards door panels or whatever you need, but get some sort of receipt showing that you paid for it!! The car can have 100 different pieces in it from different cars but you have to prove it. After the car is completely set back to stock( it has to be 100% stock. No intakes, clear lenses, nothing) you have to go to Kingston ( for us 845 guys)and they have to inspect it. So if you have the title from the stripped car they will get it titled. A friend of mine did this 2 years ago with a gsr with no motor or interior. Its on the road now and titled. Rebuit title but titled.

^^^ Some good info. Other things to note though- If you said it has a title of "parts only" or something similar, there is absolutely no way to register that VIN. If its just a salvage that is rebuildable, you can rebuild it but you need receipts for everything that you used PLUS a receipt from Acura for the NEW airbags that you'll need to buy. New airbags aren't cheap. Your best bet would be to keep things simple and make a track car out of it

Nahh, do the work and get it titled. Its gonna suck but when your done look what you accomplished! Track cars are the easy way out. It will take blood, sweat ,money and tears ( and BEERS) to get it road ready. You can do it Eric!

I'm going to start building it for teh track.... that way if an obd1 white integra happens to come into my possesion, well, she'll just have to get a set of plates too

I know some of you may think this isn't the right thing to do, but I feel that it's completely reasonable. Plus, I really don't want to wasted any more time then I have to before I start putting this thing back together, because god damnit I want to drive it!

Besides that, theres alot more options for a track only caR that I've always wanted to proceed with. Like ITB's and crazy compression, but never having a daily driver always prevented me from experimenting.

I'm also considering an F20B swap. 2.0 litres of factory high revving goodness? More torque then the jdm B18CR? Makes you think doesnt it?
