Default Toda C's vs Skunk Pro1 + cams on a 1.8 ITR motor.

Both cams tuned on the same dyno/same day. Toda C's have a much stronger mid range on this motor. Peak power on both is close.

Todd thats about exactly how the pro-1's beat my buddy 4's when I did them in my motor.. But the skunks were the ones who beat the buddies in the mid like that and the buddy caught back up and peaked higher..

Great info man , glad your still providing such tests to help the community.

The Pro1's "feel" faster. Go figure

I was just holding a set of TODA C2's last week! I went for Jun 3's for the stock idle characteristics. TODA C2 big lobe is at 12.5! But good nos considering your compression!

looks as though the same killer ramp angles on the Todas which have been known to eat rockers and timing belts may also render higher dynamic cyl pressures, since valves can be slammed open/shut faster.

is anyone (with a cam doctor) able to give us a ramp rate comparison?

now that i think about it, i recall seeing some old IB graphs and others which seemed to indicate that the smaller bore Bs liked less severe ramps than the larger bore setups with the same static compression ratios. this leads me to wonder whether the Pro1s have yet steeper ramps than the Cs.

Were the cam gears tuned as well for each setup?

Yes.
Toda C's-+5,+3.
Pro1+----+4,+2.
The Pro1+ cams seem to have bigger primary and secondary lobes. The car would not idle with the Toda C program, once the Pro1+ cams were installed (at 0,+1).

Thanks for doing this dyno comparison b19coupe. You've just made my cam purchasing even more difficult. LOL, I was dead set on the Skunk 2 PRO 1's, but now you have me looking at the Toda C's....

Only have a couple more questions....

Is there any other side effect from both of these cams?

I know about the Toda C's and the retainer to rocker wear issue. Do you experience this with your build?

Are they're any valvetrain issue's with the PRO 1's?

What do they both idle at and how is the idle? Smooth, lumpy?

Last question that's off topic, by any chance do you have the specs on the Toda C's and Toda C2's for comparision oh hand, if not I'll just search for them.

Duration ?
Lift ?
Opening BTDC ?
Closing - ABDC ?
Lobe Centreline ?

Thanks In Advance & thanks again for the dyno and sharing it with us

The Pro 1+ cams did not want to idle with the Toda C program-they were much more finicky, which leads me to believe that the primary and secondary lobes are bigger on the Skunk Cams. No retainer issues with the Toda C's, nor any issues at all, for that matter. I was told by Toda that the C2's have 5 degrees more duration than the C's.
C2's-(from Toda website)
IN 250 (11.0) - 300 (12.5) - 250 (11.0)
EX 250 (11.0) - 300 (12.5) - 250 (11.0)
(actually 260@1mm)
(the C's are 255@1mm)
