wen you buy a car check suspension, under the chassis for leaks, bushings, motor mounts, brakes (the hole system), the body, inside the car make sure everything works and estimate ur damage and see if its a good buy for you

I have a 97 cx hatch with 210k swapped out the motor sold the single cam and its still running in my Buddy's car I dont no how many miles it has now but its like 280k - 300k

There was a small magazine insert in Car and Driver about 2 years ago, where a subscriber sent in a picture of his 1996 accord. the pic. was of him and his car and a pic. of the odometer. It was taken just prior to rolling 1,000,000 miles it was 999,999,... The owner was a map maker.

In the article it talked about his routine services always done at a honda dealer.

changed oil once a week always using full synthetic.
Changed trans fluid once a month. (MT)

Preformed all major services and at appropriate milage. (t-belt , plugs etc...)

He was on his second Alternator.
Second radiator
Original muffler--never had time to rust.
second or third clutch
original transmission components
you get the idea, but the car was still running with absolutly no problems.

My opinion Honda should by it back from the customer and give him a brand new one. It would be great for R&D.

on a honda, the last thing you should be worrying about is the motor, especially when the car will be swapped later on. as stated before just make sure the body, frame and suspension are straight. the rest will come easily and with minimal cost. what will kill you in the long run is body work. body work is body work whether it be on a honda or a bmw. therefore the labor will always cost the same. motor work on the other hand, is a completely different story.

I just changed the oil in this car a few days ago @ 221,304 miles, and the car does not burn oil at all. Everything all stock, maintained well by me

Agreed. It is MUCH better to buy a car with a good body and bad drivetrain than to buy the opposite. Also keep in mind that the motor is the most reliable thing in ANY Honda. You will destroy a transmission before you EVER destroy a motor.

Honda engines last a life time all you have to do is give them a little lovin' if you dont like how many miles are on the engine then rebuild it upgrade some stuff to make it be how you want then you got urself a real toy to drive

so if im about to spend $5-6 k, would you try to find a car at $4-5 k and spend the rest on taking care of the car, i. e. replacing parts and cleaning it up?

I have heard it can go stories where it can go until 325,000 miles or 250,000 miles. But with the normal wear and tear, w/o racing on it, how long do they last?

Im trying to find a car, mainly civics, accords, integras, and preludes, right now and most of them has around 125k miles and up.

I have a 2007 Honda Civic Coupe LX, with, 294,000 km. 181.5 k miles. Runs like new. Added a computer enhancer, eco fuel module. Works hot damn. Runs better and better fuel mileage and almost the horse power of the SI. Yep. Great car! Only problems is I am old and tall and that car is So close to the ground. Nice when in, a bitch in or out .

I have found out in my experience it isn't how many miles does a honda engine last it is how miles does the transmission last lol my 95 integra b18b1 has 144k miles on it and it is still kicking but the transmission lost all power in d4 (yes it is an auto) and most power in d3 so the engine lasts for a long time but the trans you will be replacing every so many miles since the reason I am looking for a manual trans cause they last as long as the engine does and sometime longer

Every Honda I’ve ever purchased had 195k+, even bought one with 337k on it, all ran awesome and only ever blew one f22a1 engine with 389k due to oil starvation from massive sludge build up. Maintenance it and it’ll last a very long time even with a beating. 125k is hardly even broken in lol it’s nothing at all for miles on a Honda.

I service multiple examples that have 400-500k+ miles. Maintenance is key.

I tuned a gsr with 381k on it original miles original motor. That gsr ran super strong and didn’t smoke from what I could tell. When it comes to Honda’s miles are just a number judge the car on the condition and current issues.

Sold my 1990 Accord with 280,285 miles on it, still running when I saw it 6 years later, had well over 300k miles then. Current Accord just passed 264,000 miles, still runs great. Change the oil every 7500 miles with synthetic, down maybe 1/4 quart at 7500 miles.
