It's ok. There is nothing wrong with it. Infact, people sometimes wear jeans.

You're going to explain to everyone at a FUNERAL why you're wearing khakis?

You shouldn't have to explain why anymore than they would have to ask why.

Actually, the further down the family lineage you go, people I have seen wore jeans. As a matter of fact, I attended a funeral over the weekend and there were some (two or three) that wore jeans. They were distant relatives I believe. Wearing black is not what it use to represent. Frankly, noone will care. Just look nice.

I'm sure you could borrow a pair of shoes from someone.

Socks and pants at walmart will run you $20bux tops. I'm sure you have a shirt. You don't need a belt.

Well your age puts you at 101, however every MAN in this day and age should have at least one suit, and if you can only afford one suit, make it black. It's versatile, can be used for interviews, formal affairs, and funerals. Like someone said, if you're gonna wear khaki's might as well put on a Hawaian shirt and a lay.

We own two funeral homes. Khaki's are often acceptable attire at a lot of our funerals.

Ultimately, it's going to depend on how casual or formal the family is. Although I think you will be safe.

I'm sure they will be just appreciative that you're there, and not so hung up on your choice of pant.

edit: oh hey judge.

Who gives a expletive what you were, it's just about showin' respect...not what you wear. Just iron your clothes and you'll be fine. Don't worry. If the people attending the funeral are worried about what other attendees are wearing then they have serious issues.

Put down the esquire and spend some more time working on that reading comprehension of yours.

If you really can't find somewhere to pick up some black stuff just wear the khakis. Your friend will understand and just be happy that you're there for him Click the image to open in full size.

I read it. He doesn't have any black stuff with him, go buy one. A cheap suit will set you back maybe $200. Hell even $30 dockers will do.
