Default Want to install power door locks.

I'm looking to convert my 06 civic dx to power door locks because it doesn't come with it from the factory. I'm looking to buy all the parts from the factory or from a higher model civic that comes with power door locks. Does anyone know what is the typical part or component that is needed for the swap?

You can do this the way type x said or this way, alot easier. All you need are 2 door lock actuators. You can get these for cheap from any alarm installer shop. They should be between 10 to 25 bucks each. Then you need 2, 5 pin realays that the shop also sells for a couple more bucks. If you plan on using an alarm then you don't need anything else. If you don't get an aftermarket door lock/unlock switch and your set. Or one for each door it's up to you. Whatever you decide you can ask the installer to draw up a simple wire diagram for the aftermarket actuators and 2 5 pin realys. This is fairly easy to do if you have some experience. If not get the shop to do it for you. It shouldn't be more than $75.00 a door installed using an existing aftermarket alarm.

Good luck

I'm normally not one to question people's motives when it comes to buying a car, but at this rate, the LX would have been a better choice considering you want everything the LX has, except maybe A/C which you will miss (picture early August with the humidity at 80% by 10am) being a NJ resident like myself.

thank you very much for the informative post. This means that i can get everything aftermarket and get the Honda OEM lock/unlock switch so that it will sit in the oem slot making the car looks factory right?

in response to the shoulda got the lx.
No i made the right choice buying a dx. i never use AC and i always throw out the OEM cd/radio out of all of my previous cars. no sense in paying $2500 more for the lx.

Hey kroze about the factory switch, I'm not sure on the factory one because you don't have the wiring harness or in your case the connector for the OEM switch. But you can get a pair of aftermarket switches that would probably look pretty good too. However if you really want the factory look you can find out if the dealer will sell you the connectors with a foot of wire attached to it. They might be able to get the connector this way. Not 100% sure though. Whatever you decide, again good luck.
