Default Car wont start after sitting for a few days

Hey Guys,

For some reason, when my car sits for like 3 days straight the car will not start for the life of me. All the lights come on, stereo comes in, antenna goes up, everything, but when I try to turn it over, nadda. No clicking like it would be the starter or anything. Its a 95 GSR and was wondering if anyone had an idea of what it could possibly be.

I was thinking maybe it was the battery, but with everything still coming on just fine, im highly doubting it. Also once I get it started, it will start throughout the rest of the day, even if it sits for 5-6 hours. It will also start just fine the very next day.

Thanks guys

Are you close to E on fuel? My GSR wouldnt start when it was close to the E and I fueled it up, gave it some gas and it fired up.

no the car, is completely on full, i hardly ever drive the car. It usually never gets below 20 degrees lately so I am seriously doubting thats the problem. Also this last time, i kept trying to turn it over really quickly seeing if it was a starter issue, and that didnt work, and when it finally started up, all i did was hold the key down for like 4-5 seconds and it started up. Does this sound like maybe an ignition problem?

If its not turning over at all and everything turns on I would bet it's going to be your starter

yeah its in the ignition... you have to take out the bottom plate of the steering wheel and remove the 2 screws on the left side.. and check the rim plate on the trim.. its probably rusted.. needs cleaning.. hard to explain.. will try to give u a site..

Your battery may be on the verge of going out, or you could have a short slowly draining your battery. After you start it, the alternator is charging it back up so it will last a few days before it fails again. Your lights and radio come on, because they don't draw much power, but the starter draws mucho power.

My car did the exact same thing, I would hold the ignition switch to on for like 5 seconds and it would finally start to turn the starter slowly. It was a dead battery, and even after I went to Discount auto, and they thru it on their machine, the first time they said it was still good, but it wasn't. After I raised hell and they tested it again, it was bad, they just didn't want to give me a new one under warranty. I just told them to let the battery sit for 30 minutes and test again. Sure enough, it was bad.

Next time it doesn't start, throw a friends battery in and if it does, then you know it's the battery. You can test it with a multimeter. If I remember correctly, which isn't that often, it should read just under 12 volts, like maybe at least 11.5, and then when the engine is running, it will read over 13 because the alternator adds voltage.

My car did that this morning. I just pump the gas a little bit and when I start it. Then I leave it in neutral and give it a little gas to about 1k rpms for a tiny bit then I am good to go.
