for hatchbacks the model between the STD (standard, actually has no trim code) and Si

for CRX's the model between the HF and Si

for sedans it was the base model

ED6 is a hatchback STD or DX

Hurley: your sig is redundant, Si models came ONLY with 5spd manual transmissions

Hi everyone! im brand new to this and came upon this thread and have a question. Ok, so from what i understand that EF is for Japanese CRX's and EE is for USA CRX's, well wouldnt the chasis be like pretty much the same? and if so then would an tanabe underbrace that says for 89-91 EF fit on a 91 EE? because i think my crx is a EE.. just wondering thanks :-)

Unless i'm mistaken the US chassis code for a CRX is ED.

1.4 16v GL - EE2
1.6i - Did the wagon even come with a 1.6L without 4wd in Europe? Hmm.
1.6 RTi 4x4 - EE4

Don't forget about the Canadian CX
CX 4th gen is the STD, but with 5 speed manual/4 speed auto
no features... not even power steering. AC is optional though.
Coin box + glove box are not felt lined... like the DX and SI
No dead pedal. No centre console. Heck, no tach! Not even a radio/antenna!
They seem to rust the quickest too for some reason...

Probably because the people that own them can't afford/don't care enough to have any preventative measures.

you have a D15B engine

D-series are 1.3 to 1.6 SOHC and DOHC

4G civic HB's only came with either:
D13A
D14A
D15B
D16A9/D16Z6 DOHC
B16A/B16A1 DOHC VTEC

On the vehicle itself it says its a DX, but according to this forum it should have a 5 speed manual, instead it has a 4 speed manual. Does this mean that a previous owner swapped to the worse motor or were there DX models in 90 that were produced with the 4 speed manual?

it was an option for all 4 years in the std/dx. You could get either or. 5spd being a step above the basic 4spd std/dx.

for anybody with questions regarding general knowledge regarding the 4th generation honda civic a good place to start would be the 88-91 CRX/EF Civic Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) sticky thread found in this very forum (which may have led you here in the first place)
here's the link for lazy bastards like myself: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/88-91-crx-ef-civic-frequently-asked-questions-faqs-1508680/

i also like to refer to this table for information regarding chassis codes of 4th-7th gen civics
