car+turbo kit, can i race it on the track in any classes?
first i need to get a license but i would really like to get into racing my car on the track. i built the turbo kit myself and puts down ungodly power... and now since the car isnt particularly street legal i'd like to just go all out on the rest of it and make it just my race car instead of my weekend driver...
but i dont know where to start, i'd like to do some more work to it over the winter with some suspension fixes (i just broke a sway bar) and get it track ready...
i just need someone to point me in the righ direction. i here there is a school that will let you drive your own car to get your license, but after that what can i race against?
i live in central Cali btw

http://www.nasaproracing.com
and http://www.scca.org
go there read the rules
You will be in class were you are out gunned big time. SU if you want something to run against, or you can run HU (honda challange) but there isn't any one runnig it.

You'll be in one of the catch-all classes - usually called something like SuperUnlimited (SU) or SuperProductionUnlimited (SP). Common entries in those classes are GT spec Porsches (Grand Am, ALMS, etc), old GT cars (tube-frame, smallblock motor), occassionally ex-SVWC/Firehawk/etc cars, and a hodgepodge of orphans (cars with nowhere else to run).
You'll spend less money and have more fun buying (not building) a car for a mid-level amateur class (SCCA IT, NASA HC, Spec Miata, etc).

It may also be the case that you just want to track the car, and not necessarily race it competitively (I have no idea). If that's the case, classing doesn't matter, as that's entirely run-what-you-brung for HPDE-type events. Again though, that's just driving on track, not racing competitively.

Like the penguin monkey man said, you'll be in a class with some cars that would make your car look like it was standing still. If you want to go w2w you are better off buying a used race car. If you want to just run track days then run your car as is with the necessary safety gear.

You Can run SCCA ITE, they usually have cars in that class every Event.
There is a SCCA event this weekend at Buttonwillow you should go and check it out.
