Default '01 brake change, need help...

im trying to change the break pads on my sis' 01 accord ex front and read, im not sure how to go about it, this is my first time change brakes, need help thanks...

i got the caliper off and the pads out, not sure what to do with the piston and how to push it down

you should be able to push it with your hands if not go get some big *** pliers hope that helps

I think the preferred tool is a c clamp but you should be able to just push it down with pliers or something.

maybe just use your hands at first to see how it comes apart. can you move it at all?

something is moving, i dont think its the piston? but if that the only thing that moves, im not sure how to get the pads in...

yeah grab the caliper and push the center ring piston thing with your thumes and the part that your holding on too should come toward you damn i wish i was better at computers i would be able to show you. damn where are all those comp. nerds when you need them

you didnt pay attention when you took them out did you it should be obvious what way they go in just try till they fit .

you should have gotten some grease with your pads to put between the metal shims. You need a repair manual for the specifics but I think you have to put the grease on both sides of one shim and one side of the other. btw you may have to turn the piston clockwise while pushing it in for the rear calliper (emergency brake thing), it's hard to push in, I know, but you can do it.
Another important thing is to just take one side apart completly, so you can refer to the opposite side in case you forget how it goes back together.

Not between the pads and rotor, between the metal shims. If you get honda pads they come with the grease and instructions on where to put it.

uuuh of course not between the ****** brakes and the roter that would defeate the perpose of brakes, but why would you grease the shims i really dont know?

It didn't say why in the directions but I think it was so the pads could move float around inside the calliper and not bind up. maybe so they wouldn't rattle. your guess is as good as mine.

hum well i have changed lots of brakes and never saw the grease ah-well its worked so far ,,,,maybe its so it goes in easer it is a pain to get the breake in the shims. thanks for the info ,,, you learn somthin new every day

If we are talking about the same grease it goes between the back of the brake pad and the shim. This is to limit the squeeling you will get if the pad just moves around a bit inside the shim which it most certainly will do.

i gess i am lucky than. crazy i just changed my brakes some halk performance pads and they didnt come with any grease, what the ****?
