How long do stock Honda axles typically last? 100K ? What about axles in general assuming I don't race on them. I just changed the axles on my CRX B16A. The stock axles were so bad, that the inner joints fell apart when removing them. I assume they came with the swap.

It really just depends. I have had some go for 50K and some go for 10K. Most axles last quite a long time as long as you catch them before the boot completely blows out and the axle looses all the grease.

there are too many factors that determine axle life for you to ever get a straight anwser.

The same with clutches, all depends on the drive life it had.

keep the boots from getting dry and they will last longer..

do less turns with the steering wheel turned all the way..

and they will last longer..

I would say 50k is pretty good..

Thanks for the input. Yeah I know the joints life depends mostly on the boots. I was looking at some rubber treatment products I could spray on the boots every so often to keep them flexible and less likely to crack in the future. It sucks when the boot kits are like $30 when you can get the entire reman'd axle for $70!

my stock axles on my d went 206k when i bought it the boots were pretty much completely gone, not one drop of grease actually had spiders making webs in there. bought new boots greased it up no clicking, been racing on it for 20k. holds up just fine. but i just did a motor swap and i found out one of the cv boots had ripped so good thing i found it but im not gonna be using those axles anymore anyways

if your car is lowered, invest in a camber kit. your axles will last longer with little or no negative camber. also, most places will void the warranty if you tell them your car is lowered. i found out the hard way..

axles seem to last until the boots break and all the grease slings out.

i have seen axles last for 100K miles; the person kept an eye on the condition of the boots. i think he changed the boots 4 or 5 times.
