Default Bad Boost Creep

Setup: gsr with wiseco 8.6:1 compression
Precision 5431
Go-auto 3 inch sp
-go autoworks mini ram manifold
Turbosmart 38mm wastegate
Turbosmart mbc
I am getting crazy boost creep. Tends to creep the most in the higher rpms. I have checked and fixed boost leakes. And tried running off the wastegate spring. I will hit about 14 psi and it keeps creeping until I hit boost cut at 18 psi.

Could possibly be 1) engine management timing (too much retarded timing in higher rpms = heat= boost creep), or
2) boost reference point for the boost controller is too high (should be at side of wastegate to intake manifold and not compressor outlet), or
3) could be the way the turbosmart is set up. (As much as I like Turbosmart, Hallman makes a better product)

Hard to say

Time to get to work to diagnose. Try a few things out, there.

I just put a new 44mm wastegate on, that didn't help. I've also tried without any boost controller and it still creeps. Only thing I haven't tried is changing the reference point to the intake manifold instead of turbo.

U need a 2nd wastegate or use a 400cpi catalysator

You don't need a second gate for a turbo that small. Sounds like ignition timing might also be affecting this. Next is boost reference point. Then check the gate springs to see if what you believe is in there is the actual showing that is in there

My tuner did "bump the timing " alot he said. I am going to try a different reference point today. The spring in there now is a 7 psi.

Tried different reference point, still does the same thing.

I'm thinking this has to do with it more than anything

Doesn't have to be big to overboost.. But, there may be more to this story.. We'll have to stay tuned, I guess

Is there a flex section on your dumptube? If so see if it collapsed. If your dumptube dumps into the downpipe be certain the hole in the downpipe is as big as the dumptube.

Good call. exhaust side could be building up alot of pressure.

have you tried totally taking the WG off and seeing? If its still boost creeping with no WG there is some packaging issues or something else is very wrong with the design of the manifold or setup.
