I got the parts from a local Toyota dealer. I can't remember if they had them in stock or if they had to order them. Just use the part numbers listed by BSQ on the first page of this thread.

Lifesaver of a post... Starter kept cranking after starting the other day then it stopped. It was intermittent with starting since then. Tonight I got home, shut the car off and tried to start it again and the solenoid got stuck so the car kept cranking until i disconnected the battery. Found this post via google, made my way into the solenoid. Had to pry it out because it was stuck, odd for a car with 68k miles. But anyways, I cleaned the plunger, reinstalled and it worked like a charm. Going to order those new contacts though just to be safe.

everything lines up perfectly, except you have to reuse that black piece, on the starter rebuild kit that black piece is different. hope that helps

Best bet and easiest, is to pull yours, go to your local starter/alt. shop and pick up a set, about $10 or less.
The ones listed on this tread are used in a lot of starter motors, [makes and models of cars] Toyota and Honda/Acura are only two of them, so it may well be the same ones for you, but to be sure just take them to a starter/alt. shop, you can probably find them at most car parts stores also, your paying through the nose from a Toyota dealer, or any dealer for that matter. 94

Re: Need a new starter?
Just another random bump and thank you to this thread. Car has been sitting due to this random not starting problem. Installed a new ignition switch and cleaned up a bunch of old wiring that looked like a car phone setup from the 90's. Car still wouldn't start and while searching I found something that said to tap the starter. I did and it started right up. These contacts are $9 on ebay so it's definitely worth a try.

Re: Need a new starter?
Hey guys! Bumping this because my starter is acting up again. Hard to believe it's been almost TEN YEARS since I started this thread and rebuilt my starter with the Toyota parts. Well now my car has 130K+ more miles since then, at 334K miles, and I think it's time for another starter rebuild. Glad to see the parts are pretty much the same price!
