Re: Torque Specs (importslife)
here is the Honda shop manual for this engine.
http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/CRXManual/index.html
and just the head installation section.
http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/C...0.pdf
i got a D16A8 from the same place. does it have the normal ZC valve cover or the striped Rover one?
edit- nevermind, i see it came with a 4-2-1 header, so it's not from a Rover.

Re: Torque Specs (importslife)
it's a Honda engine from a Rover 216 or 416 GTI. but as far as i know, they all came with 4-1 DX-style exhaust manifolds. maybe they slapped a 4-2-1 on at some point.
it's a good engine, and the only difference (that i know of) between a D16A8 from a Honda and from a Rover is the valve cover design and the color of the spark plug wires. Honda=red, Rover=black w/blue around the end. also, they tend to be newer, since they were used in Rovers until 95-96. i believe you stated in another thread that yours is stamped 93.

Honda licensed the D16X motors to the European company Rover. They used it in many of their cars. They have a different valve cover than the Honda D16's so people didn't realize it was a Honda motor. Essentially its a DOHCZC.

Re: Torque Specs (importslife)
it's a good engine. one of the guys at Nad (wtf were they thinking?) said he has one in a CRX. heavy set guy. i don't have any complaints either.
however, i am alittle suspicious of their selling tactics. i wanted a ZC, too. and they told me they had one. when i went to pick it up, all they had was the A8. i asked for a discount since they told me they had a ZC, so they knocked off $100. now, you went for a ZC and all they had was a "broken" one so they pushed another A8. they could have just swapped the TB. i bet they get them for less than a ZC and make a larger profit from selling them for ZC prices. but that's business. and you're still gettting what you're paying for, so i guess it's none of my business how much they profit. just seems alittle dishonest, if they are infact luring people in for a ZC and then offering the A8s.
i need to go see if they can hook me up with a free 4-2-1 header and a PS bracket.
