My oil pressure went up! WTF?!

If you guys remember, after my engine rebuild my oil pressure dropped from 72 @ 3000 to 66 PSI, anddropped another 5 PSI when I went VTEC. The only thing different was the oil type, I used to use Mobil 1 with the stock B20Z and have been using regulat after the rebuild.

Well 3000 miles has passed and I switched back to synthetic last night...and my oil pressure went up! It was at around 60-61 PSI @ 3000 with regular oil and now its at 66-67 PSI!

Very interesting!
How was the oil filter...

Thicker (more pressure), better!?

Oil filter was good...its been only 1000 miles since last change.

Ive changed te oil many times since the rebuild, and every time it was 60 PSI @ 3000,,and now 67 PSI. Oh well, cant complain..Ill keep an eye on it.

Yep, Synth does build oil pressure in my experience as well. I still use regular oil though cause I'm not worried about the 5-6psi differnece i've seen in my cars with it.

Why are you people with other cars posting here? This is supposed to be the Integra Type R forum - for talking about the Integra Type R. If you want to talk about technical aspects of other cars, move it to the Tech forum.

Honestly if this was about a GSR with I/H/E, I'd agree it needs to be moved, but HX_Guy and others (Tony the Tiger, Lip, etc.) with a relatively large amount of work done to a DOHC VTEC B series motor provide us ITR owners with useful info.

val.. you should use an RSX oil filter. i saw 5psi increase at every rpm, over the OEM one.
