'00 f23a transmission replacement
Hey guys,
First of all, I'm completely new to Honda's and I'm not a mechanic... I've got an '00 accord se with the f23a and my auto transmission is racing in and out of second gear. I have the funds right now to make something happen, and I want to fix it.
I'm fairly confident I can do the work if I swapped it out. Cost effectiveness in mind:
A. What is my best option here?
Replace?
Rebuild?
B. Where is the best place to buy a used trans?
C. I've read about issues with incompatibility across model years etc.. Any information that may ensure I get the right part would help.
Thank you.

Before tossing the trans, verify that there are no codes stored in the PCM. Verify the trans is full of fresh(red) fluid.
98-02 Accords have fault codes, especially transmission codes, that do NOT illuminate the CEL or D4 lamp. It's ******* dumb, but it happens.
It may be a simple fault with a bad wire connection or pressure sensor. Even a faulty TPS will cause erratic transmission operation, and the engines running condition greatly affects how the transmission functions.
It's a speed density system, it's not the quickest when it comes to self diagnostics.
Use a proper OBDII code reader/scanner and retrieve any OBDII codes, not the descriptions, the actual P#### codes.
98-02 F23 Accords.
97-01 H22 Preludes.
98 F23 Odyssey.
These are your options for the various ATs, although the latter two models will have different gear ratios than the Accord.
Call around to local Importers regarding transmissions. Only difference with JDM transmissions is they use different connectors, so you will have to reuse most, if not all of your sensors from your original transmission.
